So I went out today and purchased the Parkzone Spitfire so I could fly around with my buddy who has the P-51. In order to use my DX6i, I purchased an AR6100 and an electrifly brushed esc. I put the whole thing together and took it to the open field behind my house.
Before flight I performed all the required actions that we would do before any first flight. Everything checked out, so I told my buddy to throw the airplane level to the ground. The plane flew nicely, just until right before it crashed. I banked the plane to the left and nosed it over, accelerating. Then, I pulled up to initiate a moderate climb and the left wing snapped off. The aircraft spiraled toward the ground and lawn darted. The plane, besides the electronics and servos, is a complete loss. I inspected the fracture and found that there is no "spar" or carbon rod through the center of the wing. Personally, I see this as a design flaw and feel that I did nothing to cause this crash.
So:
Do I take it back to the LHS and get my money back?
or
Do I call Horizon and discuss it with them?
Help!

If you bought it from the LHS, I would take it back to them, explain the situation, and let them deal with Horizon. I've never had a Parkzone bird, but I had an E-Flite P-47, and have two GWS P-40s (all foamies), all of which have fiberglass or carbon spars... I can't imagine it wasn't supposed to have a spar.

the left wing snapped off mid-air, no impact caused it? i'd def go back to the lhs. something's not right with your kit.

The LHS won't do anything, they will tell you to call horizon and discuss it with them. The LHS didn't design or build the plane, they only sold it. so dont go their mad and take it out on them. call the manufacturer (horizon) and discuss it with them, they are the ones who will help out. Horizon has some of the best customer service in the business IMO.

My LHS is VERY good about helping customers deal with the distributors when have problems with something you bought from them.
YMMV...give them a try. If not, Horizon has pretty good customer service.

Take it back to your LHS and see if they will swap it for you. Horizon will most likely take it back from them no questions asked. They have the best customer service in the industry.

Yea, they will "help" but dont expect them to give you a new kit/model the same day is what i'm saying. Its not the LHS' fault of a design flaw. I've always found that if i call up the distributor for the product and discuss the problem with them, they 1. either say ok and send me another kit (if theirs probably cause for it) and a return label for the damaged model or 2. tell me to return it to the LHS i purchased it from and tell them the case and complaint # and have them call and talk to xx person and they would have me a new kit in a few days.
Horizon has dare i say, THE best customer service. What i'm just trying to say is, if you go to the LHS and dont get the answer you want, dont pitch a tantrum with them, its not their fault.

Actually, my LHS most likely would, as long as Horizon indicated they would replace it. Your earlier post inferred that the LHS would just throw you under the bus, and while that may be the case with some, but not all.
What i'm just trying to say is, if you go to the LHS and dont get the answer you want, dont pitch a tantrum with them, its not their fault. That's good advice. ;)
