I have a set of the Xtreme motors which I am thinking about using to replace the standard types. I have researched the threads relating to these motors but have not really got a great 'feel' for what to expect with these on my CX2. he questions I have are
1. Is there a noticeable improvement in flight time as they appear to run cooler than the stocks
2. Are there major issues with the heli's set up after they are installed
3. The "circuit breaker" capacitors currently on the stock motors. Do they need to be resoldered to the Xtremes or do you run without them. I did see in one post that they would get quite hot with these motors which would suggest that they will reset themselves

Nope nothing to do but bolt them in and enjoy.IT will be easier to get the Rear screws in if you take it all the way down to the frame. but you dont have to. there shouled not be any adjustments to make afterwards. Just make sure that you plug the motors in with the proper polarity. If you dont you will take the whole thing apart thinking something is not rite, and then you will think you are a real idiot, and look around hoping no body saw you make that mistake. I know I have been there.

Haven't had any problems with the motors with or without the circuit breakers.. The newer 4-in-one I have in it doesn't have the heat venting issues the older ones had. Xtreme 180 motors have a noticable effect on improved performance. I got the Xtreme racing combo with their stronger batteries which are also excellent, But I feel if you really want a truly fast and resposive cx2 don't use the metal blade grips, in fact try and stay away from as many metal upgrades as you can. You can saw off the plastic ends of old broken stock blades , drill holes in them to accept the Extreme blades (man I've yet to get a single ding in them!), get the skinny little carbon fiber boom kit, the Xtreme blades (wish they had black) and the flex skids and shaft extension. OF course use the new motors and batteries, they rock! An Xtreme canopy will help because they are not brittle like the stock canopies that break like thin ice. The Xtreme racing combo really is heavier than I want but it is a sexy looking upgrade! I would like to get another cx2 and just make the improvements I mentioned. With a light (but not as light as a carbon boom) homemade boom,x-motors and batteries the cx2 really danced, and flitted about the room with utter ease and took on ten MPH winds outside with increased control throws. The wind was quite a challenge, recommend the longer rotor shaft to prevent blade strikes.good luck! Once you get real good at it take the weights out of the flybar ends and leave the rubber covers on.Really whips and battery flight times go up at least 25%

I replaced the worn, stock motors with the new version Xtreme motors. The new motors have about 10 battery packs on them so far. Flight time with the stock, worn battery went from about 5 minutes to nearly 10 minutes. The old motors made the CX2 sound like a dump truck. The new motors, which are louder than those on my Lama V4, sound tight and smooth. The CX2 with the new motors is a totally different machine. Combined with the DN Power 900 mah or MegaPower battery these motors can produce flight times of more than 10 minutes. The real test is the long term cost of ownership. At nearly twice the price of stockers these motors need to last nearly twice as long. With the replaceable brushes the new Xtreme motors might just be the solution.

Are you still as "impressed" with them as you were initially?

After 20 packs I am satisfied with them. I am cautiously optimistic. They seem to be holding up well. I can still get a 12 min. flight out of a 900ma battery. I wish I had a way to measure temperature at the end of a run and compare the Xtremes to the Lama stockers. The real test will come when brush replacement time comes. The question I will ask is : With the new brushes, are these motors as good as day 1? I am guessing the answer will be no. BTW, these motors have been showing up on eBay for $20 a pair and $5 shipping. I got a pair for my Lama v4 at that price. The stockers list for about $8 each.
