I don't think that a gyro is the place to skimp and save a few bucks on a helicopter; however, if it is the same product with simply a different name taped on the case, maybe it would be a worthwhile endevour.

I ordered a Turborix/Colco GY400 off ebay to see how it compares to the GY401. Here's the link:

It hasn't arrived yet, but if you folks are interested, I'll run some tests and let you know how it stacks up.

Have any of you given one of these a try?

Good luck, I've read a few threads on these, you get what you pay for.

I agree. You get what you pay for. It may look similiar on the outside. But is the important part, the sensor the same? I doubt it. They probably used the drift-o-matic sensor that is used in several other of the less expensive clones.

Sorry but that can't be a "relabled GY401", it is missing the digital servo switch and the delay pot. But for $35 shipped, it is worth a try if you are on a budget!

I own two GY401's, and I agree they're great. I also like to try new things and find bargains.

I realize they are not exactly the same on the outside and that it is missing the DS switch. I'm going to try it and find out how it does. Maybe it won't offer similar performance, maybe it will, maybe it will work just okay. I won't know until I try it.

I'm curious to hear from folks that have tried this particular one.

My second gyro (After Walkera 36īs stock) was Colco GY-400.

I couldnīt get it to hold the tail in hover. It was drifting in one direction or other all the time.
So I bought a real GY401 and could actually train to hover.

Funny, Colcoīs manual was almost 1:1 replica of Futaba Gy401 manual :)
