It's all a matter of volt-amps in your pack. I get 6 minutes of heavy use with a 5S5000 pack. 5S5000 lipo works out to 92.5 volt-amps. 7S2300 A123 works out to 57.96 VA.
All things being equal(they aren't) the power capacity of the A123 is about 63% of the Lipo. 6 minutes x .63 = 3 minutes and 45 seconds. Coincidence??????

Solution with A123's is to use more.

for me it's all about weight, and more battey weighs more, plus what would i do with my perfectly good cc80 amp esc, all my other helis are hv setups and this esc only has 250 to 300 flights on it.when the esc gives up the gost, witch with castle's rep could be a while, then i'll upgrade this swift to high voltage as well.but i have no plans on buying more a123's the power and lightness of lipo is just to good and the cost isn;t that much different.but for now it works good as a filler pack while my lipo's are chargeing.

Since it's a 6S or less, what have you for lipos at 5000mah or better? You should get really good headspeed and stamina with 6S5000 and 10 or 11 or so T pinion.

I was running 11 pinion but i was over heating batteries so dropped to 10 tooth it runs 2150 now.I just came in from 3 flights on a pair of 8s a123 packs i just made up.they work good but the run times are still only 3 minutes.power is right on par with my lipos now.I supose if i took it easy on it i would get 4 minutes but what fun would that be.Apperently there is some leeway on the cc80 esc. I just decided thta i had 300 plus flights on that esc so if i fyed itit would just be an excuse to go hv on this heli also.but so far so good.

whats your headspeed? and what esc are you useing for the 10s.I'm running right at 2000 rpm, but no governor so it wiggles around some (you can see it in the attached data log). I'm using a Phoenix 45HV.
