Here is what I use:
Normal mode and throttle hold -12 to as much positive you can get +12 to +14 (14 with modification to frame)
Idle 1 and 2 -12 to +12
All curves are linear. hover is apx 3/4 stick.
when I was first learning (I had to teach my self how to fly so I probably made mistakes but it was easy for me) I had the same end results as mentioned above (normal mode and throttle hold were -4 on botom end) but I did not use a linear curve, at half stick it would hover and I put a flat spot in the curve at hover to make it less sensative, kind of like putting expo in. This helped because using a linear curve, if I put rudder in, my fingers would not move exactly 90 degrees from throttle so either the heli would climb or desend when putting rudder in. By making the flat spot in the curve it made hovers vary stable.
Now that I've learned better control I use linear curves (the curve looks like a straight line, 0 on one end 100 on the other, all points in the middle inhibited)
