THIS MIGHT HAPPEN TO YOU
Last Saturday I had the opportunity to meet LockMD and GreenBar0n. We are trying to identify a grinding sound and a kick to the right by the tail on motor start-up. And we changed the main gear because of the damage to the teeth and the bearing. But its still there. The sound is a grinding/slide sound the motor produces in start-up. And believe me GreenBar0n put the whole drive train down from head to shaft including tail tensions.
And now at home I pulled the motor out. Just as we suspect the motor shaft and pinion is spinning without the motor can. Then the pinion went down sometime to damage the main gear. This is where the sound and lost of power come from.
Thanks for the help of GreenBar0n and LockMD and they corrcted alot of flaws in my bird. I tought it was flyable but they fixed everything. What a good experience I felt even thou I didn't have the chance to fly that day.
Again Thank you very much guys I truely appreciate it. See attache photo its not very clear but you can see what happened

Not 'they' it was GreenBarOn that got you all set, just replace the motor and you should be set to go (hopefully) the esc is not fried. Sounds to me, you either didnt hit throtle hold in a crash or maybe just a little late.
Too bad you guys missed Scolex's flight. The dude has gonads! I toss my 300's around but this is my baby until my 600 is in the air. You guys should hook up, he is in your area.

Lucky the motor is fine. I just tighten the set screw holding the shaft. Yah I will someday meet Scolex. He can teach me 3D.
I will be the first to see that 600 in action. Thats a heli with steriods. Lemme know if your about to maiden it, I will bring the champagne with me.

I guessed it! told GreenBarOn to have you check that. So are you in the air now?
Just take it slooooooow, have you done RADDS school? I did it for two months with my cp pro and training gear on. It really paid off.

Yah its very hard to do it today too windy. I'm BBQ ribs and trying to hover at the same time in the backyard today. I scrapped my 3/4 dowel 36in gear and changed it to 1/4 dowel and now I shortened it just 2ft now. Maybe I can over tomorrow if the wind died down. I'm trying that trottle curve 0-50-80-90-100 also tomorrow. WISH ME LUCK.
Hay where is that RADD school, can you give me some info on that.
Thanks,
Eugene

You guys are funny! I did find the source of my crash and it was the cheap (stock) servo stripped in mid flight. So now I am going to upgrade so I don't have to worry, when I do my mild extreme flying! Hey its only parts and money. I am thinking about upgrading to all digital, 401 gyro and a new esc. Any recomedations would be great! It was fun, and we shall do it again! Thanks for the beers LockMD!!!! Can't wait to fly with the rest of you! Glad you got yours working Eugene I even thank Green for all his help with you!

Your welcome for thd beers and I dont think you need to upgrade the esc, just add an external BEC I used SportBEC (no cutting wires needed)
Last night my son filmed me with a throtle curve of 75-75-75-75-75 way more stable in winds - I'll try to post it tonight.
Not sure if I'm liking this new tail though, I may put the stock tail back on. It keeps slipping and I've already stripped some screws trying to tighten.

Yah last sunday my in-laws are in town so I had to do it. And since Greenbar0n fixed my bird it hovers now. I'm really glad she can hover chest high. A little drift left and right but I'm getting there, little baby steps at a time. In reality its very hard to fight gravity and wind speed at the same time.
I would like to spend a little quality time you guys again namely Scolex,Greenbar0n and LockMD. You guys are awesome. Maybe next time teach me forward flight and figure 8's.
See you guys sometime, call me OK

Don't wait on me! I might be a bit. I will still come and watch, maybe borrow some tools at the same time! Steal some of your expertis on changing the tailboom! In all I only need 8 parts to fly, but if I plan on an upgrade I think now is the time. Nice video Lock lets go 80 next! I hope I don't have my own Mysterious sound. If I do.. I know just the man Eugene..........!

A drop of blue loctite may do wonders for your set screw/shaft.
