I currently have an AXE CP-L and have decided to go to a 450SE

I just wanted to get some advise on my planned setup - before I order it all
I was thinking of

450SE CDE
Spektrum DX6 - comes with AR6000 reciever & 4 S75 servo's
Align RCE-550 Gyro...

Im not sure about the gyro, my local hobby shop has it for $77.95, I am wondering if I should buy a better more advanced model.

Im also concerned about the S75 servos - they show 19oz & .11sec @4.8v - they are digital coreless.

If anyone has some opinions on my proposed setup - Id love to hear them.
If you have any better suggestions - please tell

I personally use DS285 for cyclic and a DS3400G for the tail and a GY401 gyro. But thats me.
the S75 are good for smaller heli's

You may want to consider the Futaba GY401 gyro along with the S9650 servo for the tail.

Will a better Gyro & tail servo really make that much of a difference? Its about 200 bucks for those 2 items.

Also, I was under the impression I had to use a Sub-Micro servo, the 9650 will fit on the tail?

The gyro will make a big difference, also the 9650 seems too be the standard. It is what most will recommend.

BTW The stuff you stated above will be ok to start off with. But more agressive flights will need some servo's / gyro that will keep up and not fail....as you progress and save $$$$ for the upgrades then I would
suggest some of the Items we suggested....

Will the Align Gyro cause me to crash while learning to hover tail in, nose in, and some basic forward flight?

Im assuming if I ever make it to 3D, Ill need something more advanced.
I am trying to buy some good quality stuff, without unloading my bank account too much.

the gyro won't make you crash.. the s75's servos are cheap, don't center very well and might make you crash.. You will be fighting to hold a hover even with good skills. I started with those servos a year ago.. almost the same setup except I went with the 500T and 3400g. replaced the cyclic servos with hs65mg's and been happy ever since. my crash rate decreased tenfold after replacing the servos.. I went from barely hovering to FF now 3D.. oh and buy a simulator.. real flight or phoenix seems to be standard. it will save more than it costs in the long run...

or just go out and start nitro. there are several out there that make learning to hover a breeze.. ie. raptor30s, kyosho caliber, knights. you would be surprised that you can get into nitro's just as cheap and probably save more and learn faster. go to a local heli flying field.. even with your 450.. there will be someone there that will make sure your not crashing due to setup errors. (believe me.. I crashed for 4 months because I didn't have it setup correctly.. $$$$)
