Has anyone found a good tool to remove this little "C" clip on the main shaft?

Called Circlips pliers over here.

I was quite annoyed to need the tool, but in the event it only cost a few £

Indeed. Check your local hardware store or automotive supply store. You are looking for a set of circlip pliers (external). I think it was only $10 here.

i agree, annoying to buy at first, so i tried doing it without, spent all of £4 from Maplins on some internal/external 90 degree ones, never regretted it! of course they got taken of me at the airport when i had them in my hand luggage by accident, but immediately got some new ones when i was back in the country!

Here is a good way to think about it. 20 years ago, I was bummed out I had to buy a pair for an associated RC car. 20 years later when I went to work on my logo, I was glad I had them still!!
