I would like to get details cause plenty of times I fall asleep while I am charging my battery ,I listen for the alert to let me know it is done....ask me if I'll do that again???? :YeaBaby:

charge lipo on non flamamble surface (garage floor) away from all other combustables. use wifes cooking dish with lid to be extra safe.

I have "vented" a few packs, but I'm always sitting right there when charging. When storing lipos I have a fire proof safe I keep them in. The other good place to charge lipos is a BBQ grill. I've never seen a pack "explode" but I can see how it could happen. these things do get really, really hot when they catch fire. I had a pack go bad and puff while charging, so I put it outside in a clay pot, and sure enough about a half hour later I heard the pot crack. when I checked on it the lipo was burned and the clay pot exploded from the heat. Even charging a pack with a TP101C and 210 balancer is not completly safe. when the pack is damaged from a crash all bets are off.

Apollo field was perfect today, high winds of 4mph max and the temps held off til later in the day.

Brought all the heli's back in one piece and got the Raptor DIALED IN!

headspeed of 1840 & 1940, works awesome. The lil 450 got it's neck rung out. :YeaBaby:  :cheers :fly

Made it to Whittier Narrows very briefly this AM.

Fairly steady breeze.

Helicopter flew well.

Pilot (me) flew like cr@p (not flying often at all anymore).

611 gyro ignores wind-very impressive.

I noticed the same thing with my flying. ever since the big christmas heli bash I have been easy on the flying not trying to do new stuff , for fear of demolishing a 90.

SUPER CHICKEN! Buck buck buck buck....

See not having a beater heli to fly that your NOT worried about crashing means you will never push yourself Airbung.... TIme to get a heli that doesnt cost a fortune to crash!

Got it sorted, thanks for the offer.

And I agree with Bob about having a "beater heli".

Can you consider a 600N pro a beater? The 600 is intended somewhat to be my beater heli, right now the 450 is the red headed step child.

my beater is the Trex 600. do I have to have something better than that? I was talking about the 90s , Doh!. everyone knows you dont slap one of those together after a crash.
its just those costly crashes take the fun out of flying, so its better to fly safely with the N9s and thrash the rex. I'm not too fond of spending countless hours away from freinds and family repairing these beasts. even with my 450s the amount of time spent on the table fixing shirt far exceeded flying time. jimmy was not happy, must fly heli !

Who do we have to talk to do a fun fly at Whittier?

Ken. Ken who?

I'm sure it will take some time to get it organized but the sooner the better.:YeaBaby:

I will tell you one thing please advertise I found out about that event Friday night and had to bribe ($$$$) the wife to hang for the day.. I showed up just after lunch bet flew till dark.. if anything does get set up, it will be advertised well in advance. I would think it would take a year or so to put something together. I'm sure field reservation is booked solid.

I've been the only one active in trying to put something together, that I know of. I've spoke to a few that are supportive but it takes more than that.

I can't do it all myself and won't either. It's much easier to not worry about it at all and just go when I can.

There isn't much in the way of unity for the LA crowd.

Stuff like this gives me the urge to sell off all my stuff and walk away from the hobby.

discouraging it is.
