Since there really isn't any representation of the So Cal/LA Heli pilots and there are many here, I've started this and added some pics from today @ Whittier, it was cloudy earlier in the day but got sunny in the afternoon. Not many people out so you could fly a lot.
After all the up grades and different tuning the Raptor 90 works very well and is snappy as hell.
Carb Smart worked perfect, didn't have to change a thing it was doing it's thing, lean early and at normal setting at mid flight every time I checked. Ran it out of fuel and it compensated for it. Everything worked awesome!
It now has 13+ & 13- pitch and 1920 headspeed, 8.27 gearing. 710mm Radix

It's much more responsive than it was and I'm needing to relearn how to fly it.
I"ve actually seriously considered putting in some expo....
A 90 ain't no joke!
This is for the LA group and any others.

Thanks. :)
Did a few fine tuning adjustments today and it should be spot on next time out. :smokin:
It's insane the way it flies now, I didn't expect this much difference, in fact I expected it to be less responsive because of the weight but the Carb Smart helps to get max hp right away and keep it there, the 13 deg pitch helps too. I'm really blown away at how much different the Raptor is now. Even at the lower head speed it's pretty sick. :Bang
I'll still have to wait a few weeks before I can get started on the 600N Pro.

Airboss,
I have been lurking, more than posting.
Other than that-eat, sleep, work, eat, sleep, work......................................(and occasionally sneaking out to fly).
I had a good day yesterday with the Knight 3D. I am waiting to take the Raptor 903D out again.
Nice to be able to be on the forums and see what everyone is up to.
I hope you are well sir.

I plan on flying Whittier on Saturday since it is supposed to be the best day of the weekend.
Would be cool to see all those that can make it out this Saturday (or Sunday), it's been a while since there has been a decent gathering of heli pilots in the LA area.

Mitch,
I was at Whittier yesterday.
We were informed that the flying site will be closed this Friday, Saturdy, and Sunday due to some sort of cycling event (not sure if it is bicycles or motorcycles-at the point they told us the field was closed, I lost interest).
Sorry, my friend.

May have to see if we can use the Tujunga field???? Mad Dave goes there still, they asked him where we have been, they kinda missed us I guess.

It's too far to travel, Irvine was stretching it.
Actually, after using google maps it is actually closer than the Irvine site. :o

Met up with "mad dave" at Tujunga today and got in some flying with the Raptor.
Raptor works good/great.
As long as there isn't a game going on they don't seem to care if we use the field.

do you guys get the occasional looky loos while your flying there? that would suck when you sling the 90 around and someones walking onto the field.

Mitch,
Have you tried going to Carson field (710 and 405)?
You need AMA (which I think you already have). It is a huge area and the club members are very nice (there are some real pros there too).
I do not know if they will let you fly as a guest. I went out and joined the first day I flew there.
(oddly, I only seem to be able to get out there once a year-to pay my dues and fly a few times).

No, they usually just walk on by and say, "neeto", ya, neeto.
And you get the peeps on horses, that's kinda cool.
I really enjoyed flying the Raptor, just starting to get back in the groove on my last flight, I was off for at least 6 weeks and no sim either, I had to send it back too. Both are working now. :cheers
After I get the 600N flying I'll likely lose all interest in the 450s.

I'm considering joining the Santa Fe Dam club, it's very close and has everything I need.
I do plan on joining asap. Others will likely join the Santa Fe club.

does santa fe have a heli specific area or do you share space with the planks?

They have a heli pad that is not part of the flight line/path.
