Today I picked up my Futaba 14MZ at my lhs, after waiting almost two months for it, I was very pleased it arrived.
When I turn the tx on and choose yes to transmit, the Futaba logo starts flashing red. According to the manual this is indicating that there isn't a
HF module installed or it's not the correct module according to the tx areacode.

One thing I noticed is that the id number on tx and on the module aren't the same, should this be the same?

When I remove the module and power up I get a notification there's no module. When I choose "no" on the transmit question
and I go to the frequency menu I have all off the 35 Mhz freqs.(that's good) available and it's says area europe(also good)
Are these freqs. being activated from the HF module or from within the software in tx.

Is there anybody how had the same problems and what was the solution?

Thanks for the help

Martin.

One other thing to look for.
Even if you say yes to transmit, it will go to the next screen but not actually go on air if there is any condition other than normal active or if the throttle is not at idle.

Problem is fixed!!

The transmitter was converted from mode 2 to mode 1 at the Robbe technical department.
This morning a Robbe representative came by my house. We tested using an other module, same results.
We contacted Robbe technical department in germany and they talked us through opening the back of the transmitter(actually very easy)

The culprit was found fast, there was one cable not plugged in! This cable goes from the battery department to the HF module.
So all this time the HF module wasn't powered. We assembled the whole thing back together and.... a green lighted Futaba logo!

Great service from Robbe

WOW I wish we had that kind of service here in the USA.

He paid nearly twice as much for the radio than it is sold for here in the USA . <G>
So he deserves house calls <G>.

It was introduced with a SRP about US$2700, so there was a lot of grey import here. Robbe is lowering the price and now you see that people start to buy over here.

But I must admit that we buy most of our stuff overseas in Hong Kong and Singapore, it is much cheaper there and with the currency rate (Expensive Euro) it even makes sense if you need to pay import tax.

We do have that same level of service in the USA, the USA is however a big place so maybe not everybody gets this service but when your local Futaba or Min Air or (Fill in the blank) rep comes over or meets you at the field or invites you over to help you then this is the exact same thing as the Robby rep did in this case. I know as a rep I have done this many times as well as help I give at the FFs I attend each year. I bet the same goes for most all the other reps in the USA and beyond :glasses2:
