Hi all, I'm setting up my 450 SA with a RCE 500x gyro . I see no reaction when I throttle
up. The heli does not lift off the ground. It just spins chasing it's tail
Also get no LED from the gyro like instructions say I should. I checked and rechecked my receiver to make sure it's connected right.
Rechecked radio settings they are all as recommended.
Don't know yet how to use the pitch gage. So thats my diagnosis.
I'm taking my 450 to the locals at the hobby shop to check it out on Tuesday.
So I don't feel like a total dummy can I get some feedback on what may be causing
these symptoms?
Thanks

Do not spin up while you are trying to figure this out as it will probably cause more damage from a crash.
Do you get any servo movement on the rudder servo when you move the rudder stick?
What about when you plug the battery in?
Is the servo plugged into the gyro correctly?
Are you sure the gyro is plugged into the rx correctly? Connectors can be plugged in upside down whether intensional or unintensional.
Plug the rudder servo directly into the rx and see if you get movement when you move the rudder stick.
Unfortunately I am unfamiliar with your gyro but, if I was having this problem, I would check what I suggested above.

Thanks for the response Zag.
Yes I checked Gyro to receiver and Servo to receiver worked.:arggg: Servo to Gyro doesn't work. Chipped a blade being too anxious to get it in the air the first time. I know it's a fixable issue. I just feel so uninformed in this area.
I think I got a bad Gyro.
Thanks again.

Is the tail servo a digital servo? I bought a digital servo for the tail on recommendation and the servo would not work with my gyro (GY401). Would work directly into the rx but, not with the gyro. Unfortunately, that servo is in my junk box now.
However, since it appears you are not getting any lights on the gyro, I think your conclusion is correct, you have a bad gyro. Hopefully, your LHS will be able to try it on another setup or see if another one works for you.
Maybe someone with personal experience with your gyro will give some suggestions specifically dealing with yours.
As far as it not lifting off the ground, I think you are lucky that it didn't. Otherwise you would have had more damage than a chipped blade. Doesn't sound like you have your blade pitch set correctly.
Get the gyro fixed (or figured out) and your blade pitch setup before you try to take off again.
Good luck.

HAVE YOU CHECK THE SERVO TO SEE IF IT IS MOVING IN RIGHT DIRRECTION?
SHOULD PULL TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE HELI . IF THE SERVO IS NOT SET IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, IT WILL CAUSE THE GYRO TO CHASE ITSELF.

Turns out a combination of things . Bad gyro and blade pitch was way offf.
Problem solved. Appreciate the feedback.:banana
