Hi all
I am having some "fun" trying to place/locate receiver, gyro, battery and ESC/BEC og the tiny little Gaui 200 bird, and would really like some input and suggestions.
Feel free to contribute. :noteworthy

my receiver is upright (using four cable ties) on the front ( ie front of the servo's ),The battery can fit on the battery tray. The esc is on bottom shelf, inside and under the main gear slightly forward.. The gyro is on the side just got the telebee one on there at the moment. This was as neat as I could get a finish with cutting wirtes down etc. slightly off balanced! so have a small coin under the bottom shelf.

I suggest you look at all the pics in the pictures sticky. They will give you some ideas. I'd like to see more setups with trying the battery in a different location than at an angle on the nose

Thanks, I did that, but I need more - much more. :rolling
I am going for: The receiver on the nose, battery on the tray, 2100T gyro on the tray close /next to the battery and ESC/BEC on the side - setup for now.

I wonder if the nose battery tray location has too much vibration to put a the gyro there...

The location works out for me. I'm using a Spartan DS760 and no problem 'till now.

Personally I like having the battery out on the tray extension, if I place it anywhere else my COG gets thrown off. Maybe I am being overly critical about the COG but I like my heli to hang level if not just a touch nose heavy. I also don't like having anything on the outside of the frame if I can help it.
The receiver is mounted in front of the AIL and PIT servos on the angled portion of the frame. I cut a piece of high density foam from my BB306 servo packaging and used double sided tape to fix the foam between the frame halves where I mounted the receiver so that it had a solid surface to be mounted to.
The ESC is mounted above the AIL and PIT servos and again I used a piece of foam to fill in the space between the frame halves so the ESC would have a solid surface to mount to. The ESC is fixed perpendicular to the frame.
The 2100 gyro is fixed where its just behind the battery.
The only problem I have with this setup is that you have to remove the canopy to disconnect the battery from the esc. I could lengthen the wires a tad, still need to shorten the gyro and tail servo wires too. I would take pics but close ups are not my digi cams coup of tea. I'll see what I can do though.

That is a serious gyro for that little heli! :noteworthy
Mount a gyro and double the value.

Works fine, but a little tail heavy.
Flew 5 packs this morning. What a little heli this is. ;)

In the same boat here...
Thought I had the component placement all figured out, then once I see the real thing...
....Where's all this stuff gonna fit???
Aaah, what fun!
And yes, the 760 or 2100 is pretty serious stuff, but we're all smoking heli-crack here. Who in thier right mind would spend this kind of money on an amusement? ;-)

I got a couple Spartan 760 gyros today so I'll be testing it with the Gaui 200 and the S3154 soon. One for my 500 too

A couple? They are not exactly cheap!
What mode are you going to run the 3154 in? Analog or digital?
I know that the servo is digital, but due to load/heat issues, you could try to run it a digital to save the load on the servo.

My 2nd build is using one of the two spartans I received the other day. I'll post pics to the build thread and here when my camera starts reading the dang memory card. As for the 3154, the spartan has a profile for it that you select in the configuration menu for .10s speed. The spartan doesn't support any analogue mode and the 3154 is made for digital. Make sure whatever gyro you use is level and that the heli has as little vibration as possible (no blade tracking). I believe this will help keep your 3154 from getting overworked.

Off topic: Have you tried to format the memory card in the camera?

To those who installed a spartan 760: I just spun my build up to test and the gyro is going a little nutty. The gyro led is remaining solid so it's properly not acting on a rudder signal but it violently twitches the rudder servo even when a little bit of throttle is applied (still on the ground). I can spin it up just a little and watch the rudder servo twitch then go full left full right, twitch, etc but when i spin down to zero it stays still. I have the 760 placed the same place almost everyone puts their GY401 which the under the main shaft area and slightly forward. Have you guys tried that location with success? Is this thing insanely sensitive to interference?

How did you mount it? With the supplied foam pads?
And bring your gyro gain down - way down - and start to work your way up from there.
How does it behave in normal mode?

I mount it with one supplied 3mm foam pad. I spun it up just now with zero gain and it still bugs out the same way. I think it's too sensitive to noise but I'm not sure only because others on this board with the spartan aren't speaking up about interference when mounting it in this location.

Try to bypass the gyro and connect the tail servo directly to the receiver.

only had a quick test hover on mine so far but first impressions are that its got a lot of potential. No problem with the ds760 but i was very careful to keep the esc and motor wires well away from the low voltage electronics.

If you bump up the head speed, it gets wild! :smokin:
For now I am struggling to control it with just 60-70-80-70-60 TC
