Hi folks

I got my Oregon Scientific ATC2000 a few days ago and spend the first days designing different mounting solutions for my all-stock 550EP. My inspiration was alot of these in-flight videos on Youtube and since it combines two of my hobbies I thought I'd give it a try. This weekend the weather was fine enough for some test shooting and I got about 30 minutes of video from 50 minutes flying. 4 x 3cell 3300mah but yes I spent alot of time in front of the charger :).
Anyways. I had two basic designs (pictures included), one "apache design" with the camera as a rocket pod and one with the camera strapped with rubber band underneath the heli. Yes, that's a Scotch Brite between the heli and the camera.

To my frustration both designs gave me videos with severely "vibrating" video. The video is wobbling with horizontal wavy motion. The design with the Scotch Brite is somewhat smoother but still very bad. I knew from the start that a helicopter vibrates and that's why I came up with these colorful designs to minimize the effect on the camera. My 550 does vibrate during spin up but seems smooth when looking at the rotor head at full speed, landing skids are sort of blurry from vibrations though.

I have not posted any videos put the motions resembles what's seen on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVO62JWZhXs&feature=related only much much worse.

A few of the Youtube videos show the camera securely mounted to the fuselage of different helicopters so there must be a solution. Apart from spending alot of time and money trying to minimize any vibrations in the first place...does anyone have a suggestion how I could mount the camera?

Hi!
Because of some damage I tested my Hurri without head. After exchanging a few parts (a new one is a Delrin gear, Gaui ones are really bad) I now have nearly no vibrations at all. If there are vibrations there's something wrong. You mount with the sponge in between looks like a good solution for a little camera.
Some guys here used different kind of camera mounts on their nitro helis. Nitros have much more vibrations because of their motor. But this is quit a lot of RnD work... have a look at the aerial video section here!
