I just finished the servo mount and setup of my Gaui 200, and all I can say is - wow!!

Yes, it is "twitchy", yes it is lively, yes it is damn difficult to fly, but having said that, it still feels like a real heli. (not like my HBK2)

I can't wait to for the warm and calm summer evenings, where the two of us will get to know each other a lot better. Lots of real heli practice right outside in my garden.

I tried to fly it in the living room, but that is a "no go" - probably due to the TBE

I know that this thread is trivial, but I had to share ...:YeaBaby:

Congrats :)

I did the same thing yesterday and today right after work I had to fly again.

It's such a cool heli!!! :YeaBaby:

Crashed mine yesterday & today:-)

Yesterday I tried nose in, crashed into the fence. Blades chipped and main grip screws bent.

Today a huge gust of wind took it back over my head and dropped it down behind me. I still had it full forward to try and stop it going backwards, if you see what I mean. It was either ditch it or cut my balls to shreds, I'd turned round as it went over me. Ther was a cloudburst shortly after this, hence the mega breeze.

I dinked the main blades and the flybar paddles, bent one of the screws that hold the main grips on and trashed some links.

It's all better now, try again tomorrow, I think I'll wear a crash hat and full body armour next time.

Yes, it is a twitchy, but a very fun little monster.
Do you get your wooden-blades on it ?

Lets see how the 2100 gyro performs with your tail servo over time. BTW, which servo do you put on the tale ?

Hi Bjørn

No, not yet.
I fly the plastic blades and they are soft as ....

Looking forward to try the woodies.

I use the s3154 but I have configured the 2100T gyro to operate a analog servo, even though the s3154 IS digital, because of reports that the will be "over loaded" if operated as digital.

So far this little beast behaves like an angel in disguise. :YeaBaby:

Just flew 4 more batteries in the garden in absolutely zero wind. What a joy!

It looks as if expo has to be lower on this little heli than on other larger helis, as other freaks already has suggested.

And finally it seems as if I have to order a handful of tail blades, because they do not last long in "long" gras. (Or perhaps I should just bring out the lawn mower.)

I have done a load of tail blades on this thing! order them 5 sets at a time now. Would agree with the expo comment I have mine set makes her easier for my limited experince to fly, bit twitchy overwise.
Have you tried putting a cable tie on the tail to extend the lenght of the verictical tail! gives you a bit more ground clearance to the tail rotor.
Thinking of sanding down some of my old ones and try reuse! Also I find the plastic baldes get nicks in the leading edge must be something flying up and hitting them I tend to try and glass papar these out. and then rebalance

No, I am not sure I am getting the picture.

Please explain.

Something like this, a little extra protection from tail blade grinds.... don't think it would help that much in grass, but great for bad landings on hard surfaces.

Same idea but the way I saw it done was you cut a length of cable tie keeping the square piece on the end about 2.5 to 3 inches ( sorrry old school when it comes to measuring ) use the fairly large cable tie. then use two smaller cable tie to go though the holes in the bat tail and clamp the cut cable to the tail fin with the square end hanging below the tail ie giving the tail a longer length.

I do fly off concrete most of the time and it does protect the tail blades a bit. when i fly off the lawn it has a bare patch so again keep the blades further from the ground.

Hope that explains it!
