What do you guys think of the new pinned torque tubes. I think my R90 STD sized ones seemed a little more true and solid than the older non-pinned ones. I have about 2.5 Gallons on my two raptors so far, and they are smoth with no bad vibs. :D

As long as they are straight, they should work out well. My arrow shaft mod is a bit labor intensive, but it does yield a nice torque tube. It's good to see TT making changes for the better.

I haven't tried the new tubes but know that baja you have tried the CF ones how well do they work compared to the aluminum ones?

I liked the CF ones hands down and swore I woudl never go back to metal. That was before I stretched both Raptors to R90 STD size and I cannot get the CF ones for R90 STD size. DOH!!

Al
I've read your mode and your right it is a great idea. Could you cut and past it here for the new guys around that might not know about it?

Get some JH4 ends from Ron Lund, and an Easton #2013 XX75 camo hunter.
My R90std drive shaft was pretty darn straight. A lot straighter than my last R60 one.
I won't do the easton mod until I destroy it.
Just remember to write the stock lengh down! It's a little tough to get a measurement from a figure eight

I've always drilled & roll pinned my own.
I never trusted them without some kind of pin!

I forgot to pin my R90 STD torque tube and have over 70 flights on it with piros and hard stops. Glad I caught it on the ground before I did in the air!

Many of us early Raptor 60 owners found out the torque tube end caps would slip from time to time. I pinned mine and won't fly without it. I lost mine on the 3rd flight of a brand new R60, tore it up good but at least Ace fixed it for free back in the day, replaced everything except the main blades which were not TT brand.

Al,
the Easton shafts u mention, are they long enough to do a raptor 90 std?

Yes they are, plenty long enough.

I need to get the arrow shafts now to fix my wrecked R90. They are model #???
Can I heat the ends a little to help remove, and use the ends off my now bad R90 TT in the arrow shaft?

The R60 tube was stainless (thin wall), and has a larger ID than aluminum arrowshaft (thick wall) and requires that you chuck the OEM splines in a lathe and turn them down a little so they will fit into the arrowshaft. The i.d. of the Easton shaft is .009 thousanths smaller than the TT tube. They can be a real ***** to get out of the old tube, even with alot of heat. If you use the JH4 ends from Ricks, the arrowshaft will be cut longer because the ends fit over the tubing instead of inside of it. PV0320 the 90 size( from the conversion kit), is 830mm from outside end of splines to the outside end of splines on the other end. PV0194 is the 60 standard shaft, that is 800mm spline to spline. PV0421 is listed as the new number for 90 size. I have no idea what size these are.

Will, the shafts are Easton XX75 2013 camo hunters. Yes you can heat the ends to remove, but the stock ends need to be modified to use in the Easton shafts. The JH4 ends that Ron Lund sells are the perfect fit. Using the JH4 ends, will require a slightly different shaft length, to obtain the proper over all length. The stock ends will need .008-.009 thousanths removed fron the part that fits into the shaft.

Al is the one who I sponged most of that info from, so he deserves kudos for his knowledge on the topic. He was kind enough to share it with me well over a year ago 8)

I ordered 3 of them the other day. All stock ones from TT and they come with the nut and bolt to pin them. The hole is drilled through them you just have to put them in. They do it that way so you can put it through the bearing in the tail boom.

So the part number is the same??? I have this part number for the Raptor 60 (PV0194 Tail Drive Shaft)

I guess I just called Heliproz.com and said I want 3. That is what showed up. It might depend on the stock the place you are buying them from. If they still have the old you may wind up with one of those.
