Just looking for ideas here. I've always flown OS engines but I've been reading lots of good things about the YS.. Also there a bit cheaper which is a nice thing. Lets here your opinions.......

Get the OS.

I flew the YS for a year and never had a problem with it. Needle adjustments were very easy, but after a year, my connecting rod broke and I couldnt find a brand new YS. Good luck finding a YS.

So then I switched to and OS 91 PS. It is awesome!!! Today when I flew, I leaned one needle 2 clicks and thats it! so much more power too! Plus, you can easily find parts and whole new engines for the OS without having to call a hobbyshop in Iowa to get a new motor (like you would have to do with the YS).

Its your call, but my vote is OS.

From what I am seeing in helicopters at fun fly's. The OS 91 CSpec PS or the OS 91 CSpec with Cline system from OMI seems to be the motor of choice. I would say from looking around at different helis, the OS motor is in the majority.

I have had both and currently fly the YS. I have to say the YS is smoother and definetely easier to tune. The major problem I had with OS was getting a consistent mixture through the throttle range, but that can be fixed now with the carb mod that Shannon demonstrated here on the forum. Anyway just my experience, I really like the YS I currently have. Both are good choices.

Another way to ask this question is "if money is no object WRT to aftermarket mods and add ons, which motor would you prefer?" versus "which motor would you prefer if you could do nothing more than take the engine out of the box, use the carb that came with the engine, break it in, and run it hard?" OS will win the first argument by almost all accounts. YS will take the second one almost every time. I'm looking forward with great interest to see if OS manages to ship the next generation motor which will run correctly, balls to the wall, out of the box, and bone stock and not cost close to $600.
