Did anyone have to use shims behind the primary collet on an extreme with the metal fan? I tried to put on my fan today but with the nut tight there is still lateral slack in the hub. I tried the shim that came with the motor and it took alot of it out but it might need some more.

You should have the black washer that comes with the motor on the front bearing.
Then the lower collet goes next, then the fan hub, upper collet, .5 mm shim washer, then the crankshaft nut.
That is how the fan was installed on my YS 91, no problems tightening it down. No loctite on the nut.
