What parts do I need to convert a closed gear box to open gear box? Trying to keep the $$$ down so I just want to know necessary parts instead of the entire unit.

You can't convert a closed box to an open box. You have to replace one with the other.

How do I pull out the plastic tail gear connector (800-7) to check the gear mesh? I can't pull it out by hand.

The input shaft (0800-7) is held into the box with 2 setscrews on either side of input bearing tube of the box. Once you remove the 2 set screws, re-apply blue loctite and put them back into their holes just enough to hold them. Then tap in the 0800-7 a little to get the mesh you want. Then tighten up the 2 set screws, a little a time, back and fourth so as to keep from putting an angle on the 0861-7, which will preload the bearings and make them notchy.

While you have the box apart, clean out all the grease and inspect the gears. Be sure to re-grease after assembly.

My problem is AFTER I remove the 2 setscrews, I can't seem to pull the input shaft out. What do you use to pull it out?

Apply a little heat to that area on the case. It might have some loctite on the bearings.
