I just upgraded my stock servos to some JR's DS285 servos and a DS3400G for the tail. All servos are connected correctly and operating in the right direction, but if I give any type of rudder input my tail will spin like crazy in that direction. I have tried a few things but im a newbie and im at a loss... Any Ideas????

Thanks

Easy fix, reverse the switch on the gyro itself. I did the same thing.

it seems to have worked im just trying to center everything. i should center on the tail shaft and on the servo correct???

Good, yes. you want to get the rail rod as straight as possibe with no binding. Set centers in rate mode. If you have not done yet I would recommend putting the 3400G on the boom to get away from the frame. It is NOT needed, I just like it better.

i set it on the frame. How do the centers get set in rate mode. I have the stock settings of 66.5 on position 0 and 64 in position 1.

set position 1 to 25% which is 50% rate mode, anything under 50 is rate mode

set radio as above, have gyro switch set to 0 (HH) plug in batt initialize (beep beep) flip throttle hold for safety, now flip gyro switch down (1) and red light on gyro will go out. now center mechanically.

light on gyro still on.....

is this the gy401? I'm not sure how the stock responds to rate/HH modes

One way you can tell, move rudder left/right HH mode will HOLD or try to hold its position while in rate mode it will return to center very quickly.

i got the gyro working and hovered a bit in my living room and got distracted real quick and hit the couch and now i stripped a servo, and im guessing that i cant mix stock servos with jr servos. hopefully LHS has servo gears if not im not flying tomorrow(first nice day this week).... im not having a good night so far...........uuuuggggghhhh

Glad you got back up for a sec LOL

yeah you dont wanna mix cyclic servos PERIOD! stock/non-stock, never mix them all 3 should be the same or you are just asking for trouble.

Oh I forgot! Dont forget to RE-Bind the tx to the rx. I cant explain how it works but apparently between the two centers are remembered and rebinding will reset.

It will fly fine without rebinding but you will start to notice odd things happening - just re-bind and you wont have any problems.

ohhh what funny things do you think will happen??? i dont have the binding plug that came with the transmitter, is there any way around this.

edit: found another way around the binding plug issue and binding seem to have gone good.

Cool! you might want to share your findings so others that have mis-placed the plug and can do your tip.

I'm guesing tin-foil is involved.

i just used a pair of alligator clips that didnt have to much tension but would hold on, and it worked perfect.

Good Tip! you should mention something about it in the sticky thread or have Mike put something about it on the orig post....?

I guess you are only able to edit posts for a fixed amount of time. I cannot edit the original post anymore. If there are 2-4 things that could/should go in there, let me know and I'll see if Finless can let me edit the first post again.
