Whether you get one depends on your income.

You just now figured this out? Irs.gos has the calculator to figure it out. 600 per adult and 300 per child in most circumstances.

I just wonder how long it will take for the IRS to figure out all the stimulus payments will be spent overseas?

I don't get it :(. Guess paying $40k in federal taxes gives me less of a claim than someone making 6k a year and paying NOTHING in federal taxes.

Nice! I think they need to acquire some glass stomachs before they'll figure ANYTHING out.

Somebody has to pay for the stimulus packages. I'm not eligible for a stimulus payment either. It may not seem fair but it does make sense: if you make a significant amount of money, you should have enough discretionary funding of your own to feed the economy. Unfortunately, the adage that says your spending will expand to meet your means rings all too true.

Isn't socialism great? Let's all vote a democrat into the White House so we can get much, much more of the same... Remember, the solutiuon to all of our problems is bigger government and more taxes! Big government knows best!

Honestly, If I was making over $75,000 a year, which is the cut off IIRC. I don't think that I would be that upset about not getting $600 back.

$600 to somebody making 15k a year is alot of money. Thats like 4% of their salary.

$600 to somebody making 75k a year doesnt have as big of an impact. It's 0.8% of their salary.

I'm not saying its wrong or right. Just posting how I would feel if I were in that situation.

Oh and there's also word that it'll have to be paid back next year. Supposedly they're supposed to vote on that in September.

I bet there's gonna be interest involved too. Heh.

$600 is $600
this is like saying if I buy a TREX 700 I should pay $2,000 b/c I make more money than someone making $35k a year, they should get it for say $500.
If I make $150-200k a year, and I pay in more than my fair share, I'd still like $600 back. I have bills and wants just like the next guy. It bothers me when my friends think I should pay all the time if we go out to eat, or comment about how much I make or what stuff I have. I work hard for the money I earn. I don't begrude any tax paying citizen from recieving the stimulas package. What I resent is that people who don't pay a nickel in income tax get the payment. Another form of welfare and enabling laziness IMO. Why work?

Even though I don't stand to benefit, the whole purpose of the package is to stimulate spending. Lower income people don't have the discretionary income to do that; they have a hard enough time with necessities. Of those bills you have, how many are really necessities? I can tell you that many of mine aren't. I'm already pumping a lot of money into the economy, so I know I'm not the intended audience.

Corona! I agree with you! That attitude really pisses me off! :badair: Its like you said go out to eat and everyone expects me to pay and some one needs money ask him. like I have a money tree or something. :bomb: $600 is $600 to you to me and to the next guy! I'm so sick of all of these welfare programs that hard working people like you and I foot the bill for. Sorry to rant and rave but the laziness and the lack of responsibility in this country is starting to get under my skin!:bs

what like the people who come to my clinic, are on welfare and get medicaid, yet have cell phones. smoke a pack a day, and seem to have money for a newer car, but not $2 for their co-payment. Yeah, necessities. I have a house payment, car payments etc... I agree the idea of the program is to stimulate spending, but to say I'm less deserving is insulting. I may not have the same stresses and economic woes as some, but I could still use $600 to piss away on heli parts or w/e.

Don't take what I said personally. =/ I agree that everybody that pays taxes should be treated fairly and equally. My post was more about the way *I* would feel if *I* were in that situation.

Everybody is different, and everybody feels differently, and I respect that.
