Installed HS-65 HB Servo's on my B400. The problem is that the Heli will not take off! It is like everything is backwards it only wants to push into the ground at full thottle. I am new to RC Heli so any help would be great.

Howdy,

Just finished the same in mine, you need to reverse the servo controls in the TX. If you changed the rudder servo too, then you will also need to change the switch on the gyro I believe.

I doubt you will have to reverse the servos themselves ( Aileron, elevator) more than likely you will have to change the values in the swash menu. DO NOT spin up the heli until you are sure all servos are working correctly. Unless you want to destroy that heli the first time you get it up in the air.

Sounds like your pitch setting in the swash menu needs to be the opposite of what it is, ie if its at +60 then make it -60 and that will reverse its function.

watch these t-rex videos on CCPM it should help alot. http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=11373

Good point, you could prob do that too I guess. I just assumed that since the servos were reversed to the stock the easiest was to just flip the reverse controls for all three.

All sorted fine now.

Yup...I changed my servos out with the Hitech HS-65MG ones and everything was definitely reversed. Watching the Finless video's helped me a LOT, but also I wish I would of referred back to the B400 manual. Check that out to make sure your swash tilts correctly and also goes up and down like it's suppose to. And remember to disconnect the motor.

But to try to sum up my lesson's learned:

1. If you move the right stick left or right, the swash should move the same. If not, reverse servos in transmitter settings.

2. If you move right stick forward or back, swash should move the same. If not, reverse servos in transmitter settings.

3. If you move left stick, throttle, forward or back, the swash should move down with stick pushed forward and up when pulled back. If that's not the case, then change your SWASH MIX to positive or negative of original.

4. If left stick, rudder, to the left the rudder slider should move to the right. Right rudder and slider should move left.

Hope that helps.....and be careful not to spool up the motor. Trust me on that one because I did it and wrecked my heli bad.

Save your self alot of trouble, just reverse all swash mix settings . Just got through doing it and works great. Don't forget to do the creep setting in sub trim in radio for tail rudder and you are ready to fly.

What does the creep setting adjust?

Make sure everything is aligned properly, your going to love the HB's I have them in my 400 and Ive had 2 crashes and no stripped gears in the servos..I'm going to upgrade to the MG's once the HB's finaly strip, Hitec has the MG gears I can buy and install into the HB's case's

Yeah what IS that?

Go into swash mix (to reverse the servos) and change the "polarity" of the values... for example is aileron is +75 change it to -75 and so forth. Be sure and write them all 3 down before hand just in case you get distracted mid-change.

Happy Flying :)
