So the stock landing gear bolts are 3x12....

I know it has been mentioned here and elsewhere but can not find a specific place to get some of these Nylon 3mm bolts so that I may do the deed sort of speak on all my machines.

If anyone has a direct link and or knows where to get it would be appreciated, thank you.

I was about to use the nylon bolts on my 600E landing gear, then had a crash landing (with the steel bolts) that surely would have sheared the nylon off. Had they sheared off, I would have lost my Radix 600s and many other parts (which survived since the heli ended up upright, even though the blades touched the ground [grass] briefly.

I am thinking that, in certain types of crashes, the nylon would let go and certainly once the frame tips over, the damage increases. Of course, this scenario must be weighed against the other types of crashes where the frame is damaged by the bolts being too strong.

Wonder how they hold up on autos if you come in a little hot.

I once had a heavy 'bounce' with my logo that sheared off 3 of the bolts. Flying around, I could see the u/c was hanging fairly loose and vibrating.

I figured it might be my last flight on the thing, so I flew around until the battery got low, then I cut the throttle and did a fairly smooth landing - just a little bump.

The heli left the gear where it was, bounced about 6" and came to a rest lying neatly beside the u/c, with just enough rotorspeed to remain level. It was quite amusing.

I would feel happier with 4mm nylon bolts, though I think you might weaken the u/c and frames if you were to drill them out.

I have had many frame saves by the nylon bolts shearing and never a hint of them packing in prematurely - if your auto is so hot you're gonna break the bolts you're likely to break the frame instead if you use metal ones.
