ok so my friend sold me his spare metal grips and i had a question... i lubed the thrust bearings and put everything back in to where nothing was moving and the bearing looked like it was where it was seated before... i put it on the head and it looks like theres alot of room inbetween the yoke and the grips, i know i put everything back in there so my question is how much room should there be in there? right now the hole for the mixer arm is centered on the yoke, is that where it should be?

heres a picture of what it looks like...

I think you have your grips swapped around.....I believe the grip arm is on the "leading edge" of the blade...not trailing edge...adn the seesaw may also be wrong...I need to find a picture and look.....

Found it...you have the head set up wrong....see the attached...

lol no as before for some reason the camera on my computer reversed everything... the grip arms are on the leading edge and the paddles are correct... my brother has my camera so i have to use the one on my computer for right now...

I think I believe Mike...look at the lettering on Gaui...it's upside down abd backwards on the blade grip !!

Really wierd.... but you still might have the seesaw wrong....in relation to the mixing arm...but hard to tell with that picture....

Oddie...he would also have to have his OWB upside down for the head to spin the wrong way...

Anyway back to your original question about the space that show on one blade grip compared to the other. I had the same problem I found that one of the inserts (plastic piece that hold in the dampeners ( o-ring) ) was not the same as the other the ring that held the dampener on one was not cut square thus held the spacer out from the o-ring more than the other one. Sorry I hope my explanation is clear I changed them to the new metal pieces from Gaui which are made equally thus equal spacing.

well ive flow the heli several times and it worked right so i know nothing is on backwards lol... where did you get the metal ones?

I just ordered the dampener set listed at flying-hobby ( which were shown to be the plastic one) and got the metal ones. Same part number on bag. I saw else where here that the stock is changing to the metal ones so it is hit and miss which you will get. I would contact ReadyHeli and ask them specifically for the metal ones and I think they could help you better than someone over seas that will just fill the order without looking at what they have.

ok so i was putting the 42t gear and 14t pinon on but i can't seem to get it close enough... ive already cut the frames and i think if i did anymore the arms wouldn't hold on that well... does anybody have this setup cause if i cant get it to fit im going to try the 15t pinon

I have the Z20 980 with a 13T pinion I had to shave a slight amount off the frame as the can was spinning into the frame maybe .5mm off no big deal the 14T I had no problem

with the 42t gear?

I'm using the stock gearing which is the 42t ist gear...and I had to also shave some of the frame off at an angle,

I had no problem getting the gear close enough.

Do you have any room left on the slot in the motor mount?

If you do then it's gotta be the frame stopping it... I'm running the Z20-980 motor

yea theres room left in the slot and im confused because im used to nitros and this is the first time ive switched out gears on a electric so im not sure how the gear should be set, right now its turning it but i dont know how 2 check the position when its in the heli... any tips?

you must first mpunt the motor with pinion in the mount with the bolts tight but not fully tight that you can not move it. Then place the mount with motor in the heli and chech the backlash on the 42T gear moving the motor forward to the gear until correct. then remove the motor mount and tighten the motor bolts and recheck the backlash as befor. this may take a few tries ( a least for me) only then you put in the mount screws to the frame. DONE

I find that to get the proper spacing I have never been able to leave the screws just a little loose....I end up tightening them up and test fitting it each time....I also have to put all 4 frame scres in each time becuase it will change the setting if you don't.

many say to stick a piece of paper in between the gears and that gives the correct spacing....I haven't had much luck with that.

I keep trying until I get the slightest amount of movement between gears...you can see them form the bottom and get an idea of how close they are.....you don't want them so tight they bind up....and not too loose either....just the smallest bit of movement...and you've got it....."nail it down" and fly.

This is probably the most pain in the neck job on this heli...and a poor design..imho

i can wiggle the 42t a little so im guessing its not tight enough... ill keep messing with it today lol

ok i got it pretty good today... had to shave a little more off one side but its all locktighted in... now i have to figure out if i should fly with the rubber dampners that are worn out or should i go get some more...

It is problably fine just spool it up and see if the balance of the head is okay if it doesn't shake I would go flying.

yea gotta locktight everything down because i didn't if i had 2 change them out... hopefully all the storms will blow away for this weekend and i can test the new gear ratio :)

as long as those storms don't blow into georgia and ruin my flying this weekend :D
