OK I’m trying to remove clutch from the clutch bearing block for my stratus upgrade its not moving. I heated it up I broke the tool they tell you to make and yes I am turning the right way anyone else have any problems? Any hints?

Heat it up with a mini torch and they unscrew pretty easily. The assembly is just green loctited together so once the loctite is broken down with heat they just unscrew. Maybe use more heat, as you said you where going the right direction. Something seems odd if it does not just come right off. You can also just send it over to MinAir and in a few days you will have it back.

I used a regular heat gun. Heated it up for less than 1 minute and it came off. I bent the tool trying to get it off before I tried to heat it.

For those who do this little task, blue loctite and a modest torqueing are sufficient with reassembly since the assembly turns under load to keep itself tight.

Sometimes important trivia point that I'll bring up since there was some discussion about which direction to turn the clutch on the driver: There is only ONE part on a MA product that I am aware of that is reverse threaded. That part is the sleeve that threads into the INNER ring of the constant drive unit.

I have a question - since the clutch is self-tightening, then why the loctite? MHT had an article way back when that had a review of a Fury Extreme and the author mentioned this issue. He was told by some pilot with many flights on a fury to disassemble the clutch, remove the loctite and reassemble. With the loctite the clutch will never fully seat and will chatter.

FWIW, I have done that to 2 extremes and never had an issue.

There has been a couple of instances where the clutch has loosened from the driver. This is why MA uses loctite sparingly on the threads between the driver and the clutch. Not sure but I think the cases where the clutch actually loosened was caused by a starter that was running backwards.
But I do know I have been told of it happening a couple of times.

About the only way to have it loosen up is if the motor backfires really hard or, as David said, the starter was reversed. He's thinking about the same one or two instances of that problem occurring that I am. It's VERY, VERY rare.
