I just wanted to let you guys know that I installed the Align Feathering shaft #HS1003 along with the dampner kit and it seems to be working great.
When I went to install everything I found it was easier to install the screw and washer on one side first (with blue locktite of course). Install the shaft with the blade grip then stack everything on the other side.
They include some spacers that have to be installed to make up for not having locknuts.
Everything seems to be nice and tight, and now I have allen screws instead of locknuts on the ends. No worries about making sure the shaft is exactly centered, just crank the screws down tight and it seems to line up great. Ill let you guys know if any problems come up but so far nothing noticeable.

Whats up People I Just Installed a Blade 400 Main Shaft:arggg: It simply To install I Just installed it Upside Down if You just do dat your gonna have binding problems with the swashplate so since the shaft is a lil longer then the stock belt so i had to get Linkage Rod/Pushrod set an make them short as possible an the Anti-Rotation Bracket/Guide for the blade 400 cause the one on belt is to short an thats it
I wanted to try to see could it be done for one reason there are no lhs that carry e-sky an they carry all other so that it pics will be added later

OK, I haven't been here for a while so correct me if I'm wrong!
I never heard the blade 400 main shaft would fit the Belt CP, I know for a fact the trex 450 does (if you fit it upsde down). However the blade 400 main gear is a perfect fit and is much better than the stock e-sky one.

Interesting Boddan, Next time I go to the LHS I'll bring an Esky main shaft and an Align to compare!

They are different in overall length, but importantly, the spacing between the 2 holes for the upper and lower "Jesus" bolts is exactly the same.

Does anyone know if the Blade 400 feathering shaft will work on my Belt CP (plastic) blade grips? I want something stronger and that centers. I had to spend $18 bucks to get M3 tools that would fit to change the feathering shaft on my heli. I want hex screws dammit.

Don't know of anyone who has a perfectly straight Esky main shaft; a really poor bit of kit. Have had a carbon steel Align one on for virtually my beasts entire "life".

hey Mike,
I have just bought a couple of Align Main shafts to fit on my belt after i read this thread but the align shafts are a bit smaller in diameter than the esky ones (or atleast the ones that i had bought the XL ones) and as a result there is a bit of a wobble between the shaft and the bearing.
are there any other shafts around?

[...] the align shafts are a bit smaller in diameter than the esky ones (or atleast the ones that i had bought the XL ones) and as a result there is a bit of a wobble between the shaft and the bearing.
Do you have a part number for those shafts, so we know to avoid them? All the ones I've seen have been identical in dimensions.
Unless... You're sticking them in upside down, right? Otherwise the groove for the shaft collar will ride in the top bearing, causing a lot of wobble.
I think "known good" shafts include at least the HR1001, HR1003, HS1280 and HS1217T.

I have installed the align main shaft (upside down) fits no problems and seem to be way straignter than the stock one!
Also installed the Align feathering, 3 in a pack, 2 hex bolts, 2 washers and 2 spacers (about 1mm thick)
I installed the shaft and all bearings and simply put the (in this order) O ring, std washer, spacer, grip with bearings installed and washer and bolt
Free as a bird and very little play if any at all!
naturally it sits the grips out further by 1mm each side, anyone see any problems with that?
One question : Are the alloy head and tail setups you see on Ebay actually any good?
they range in price quite a bit but all seem to have the same parts ( purple / blue or silver ) The parts from cnchelicopter.com look to be a much better quality!

your right GSR CNC heli is the best.
Guys just pondering i remember reading some where that there is a good site for fethering shafts (not shure if they are Align) 20 shafts for $20.
it is an ebay link but i think the seller has dissapeared(the item has been removed).
Should i stick only to the align feathering shafts or go with these.
Pls also put up any good links/suppliers.

The fx shaft is an important sacrificial "energy absorber". Those cheap ones are crap, so go with the Align ones, is my advice.

+1
Whenever you feel like saving a few cents on feathering shafts, consider the fact they are quite literally the only thing holding your rotor system together at 2500+ RPM. How many would you have to go through to cover the cost of a single catastrophic failure? When that thread lets go, what you have is two CF machetes flying in random but opposite directions, plus one very expensive and fragile lawn dart.

Thanks for your concern Mika.
Yes it is very dangerous and i wish it was designed with some fail safe in place.but i guess all model helis are built this way.
so cant complain but just be cautious. Anyway i am just hovering now and have a crash every 2 days.So i go through fethering shafts faster than they can fail mechanically. That said i am cautious about saftey.
Just want an economical option for Fx shafts so that i can get back in the air quickly without a dent in my wallet.and i like to stock em up too. So pls recomend something keeping that in mind.
