this is a simple way in changeing the main gear on the belt cp first of all unclip the servo links to the swash plate

http://www.heliguy.com/Forum/images/userpix/929_how_to_1_1.jpg

and then move the swash plate guide from the guide back plate

http://www.heliguy.com/Forum/images/userpix/929_how_to_2_2.jpg

and then locate the bolt at the bottom of the main gear

http://www.heliguy.com/Forum/images/userpix/929_how_to_3_1.jpg

and then useing a pair of pinchers on the nut and a allen on the other side undo and take the bolt out

http://www.heliguy.com/Forum/images/userpix/929_how_to_4_1.jpg

and then just simply pull the whole shaft out with the head still on

http://www.heliguy.com/Forum/images/userpix/929_how_to_5_1.jpg

then just pull the main gear out and just make a note on which way the main top gear runs free and which way it grips,i allways have the gear the right way up to make it easyer to work with

http://www.heliguy.com/Forum/images/userpix/929_how_to_7_1.jpg

then its just pulling the old gear off ,takeing out the one way bearing and fitting it to the new main gear and then putting it all back together makeing sure that the shoulder on the new gear faces down like the one in the pic

I know it has been said before elsewhere [!!], but whilst you are at it, change the main shaft to the Align carbon steel one, remembering to fit it upside down and adjusting the servo pushrods accordingly due to it being slightly shorter than the stock pEsky shaft.

I can't get the one way bearing out. Is this normal?

It is a tight fit, necessarily, but you can get it out with the right tools, or just buy a new main gear with it fitte and damn the expense!!!!!!!!!!!!! [ blade400 or helimax are the recommended upgrades here]

I use a drill press and an appropriate 1/4" drive socket to push the bearing out and back in again really simple. If you can't pull your shaft after Dierwolfs instructions your one way must be siezed. Therefore pry pry again.LoL. Its usually not that tight. Sounds like what I was telling the wife last night but thats another topic for a different time.

Hi everybody. Brand new here and brand new to helis. Bought my belt 1 week ago and still trying to figure out how it works. I flicked a switch on the radio and the motor started at max speed stripping the main gear. Is that switch made for the purpose om teaching me to change the main gear? Anyways this will be my first repair...without even 1 second of flying time..

Hi Groenie,

Sounds like you found the idle up switch!!!

Yes is it designed to do that, so don't flick it until your ready. And be careful not to flick it by accident either. This switch is used for advanced/inverted flying and 3D. Once you feel comfortable with high hovering/circuits & 8's you will probably be ready to use it with each flight.

You should do pitch setup in idel up mode - but with the motor disconnected, so the motor doesn't spool up and strip the gear.

Ps - Don't buy e-sky, if your on a tight budget E-Flight Blade400 main gear is 10x better.

Welcome to the best forum EVER! I agree, the blade 400 main gear is much better than the Esky brand. I use the MicroHeli main gear it is expensive but is the best available! I would say to get the B-400 main gear for now and when you get to be more proficient in flying to upgrade if you want to!
