I have to attest to the durability of the Stinger 50. I have been using it to learn backwards autos for the first time.

One side issue is that you must set throttle hold up a bit for the tail to hold, at least with a 401. With this completed, the Gohbee works great for backward autos.

Possibly with a 601, the tail would hold without kicking up TH. Even with the 401, out of TH, the tail holds well unless you bog the engine & slow the headspeed.

About a week ago, about my third or fourth actual backwards auto to the ground, I goofed & lost backwards speed & got in my own downwash. The Stinger 50 fell about fifteen feet straight down & actually bounced about five feet.

No damage at all & I completed several more successful backward autos the same day.

It does seem like the plastic is stiff and durable.

Yesterday, I did two inverted, roll to upright, autos. These were my first of these, also.

I am running TT snot green paddles & 1970 headspeed. The GB flies very well with 9202's & an OS 50 with a cheap Maverick pipe.

The initial cost & inexpensive parts definitely reduces the pucker factor compared to my 91 XSpec.

I did upgrade to the metal head but really could not notice much difference. I suppose it is a safety factor in running high head speeds.

Hey bobc1,

First class info. The S50 is a tough beast. I have put it through several "stress" tests myself !!! With no damage. The more I fly mine, the better it gets. Have fun and stay safe !

She is a tough bird.

I just had a flame out (the glow plug fell out) two weeks ago and the auto was not able to get back to the smoothe ground.
At the end of the auto it landed on a rock that was just tall enough to tip it over on its side.

Total damages $5.82. :D I'll take that kind of crash damage anyday.

Thanks William
The drags were a blast.
I may be back next year with a dedicated drag ship powered by rum balls.

I also need to refine my launch technique a bunch.

I think I may have had the fastest stock heli there.!?!?!

Maybe next year we will have the Stinger 90 to run in the drags also. YEEE HAAaa

Thanks.
I should have droped a rum ball in the tank for some extra kick.

Does anyone have video of the races?
I was to busy to watch, and I had my eyes closed cuz the Stinger sounded scary.
