I just got my Stinger 90 yesterday.
Finished building and setting up today, batteries are charging and she should get her maiden tomorrow.
Tomorrow will not be any thing real exciting, mostly breaking in the new 91 PS, and working on pitch and throttle curves.

It should be ready to rip for IRCHA.

Here are a few pics for you to start drooling over.

what' s all that shiny stuff? ;)
Seems like having all those spacers on the top of the blades would cause an issue with lead/lag. Have you considered putting an even # top and bottom?
Looks pretty cool!

The spacers were evened out before I flew it today.

Even though I mostly just hovered and did some slow circuits to break in the engine,
this bird feels like it just wants to be let loose.

I LIKE IT!!! :glasses2:

Stop by the Gohbee booth at IRCHA to check it out.
The pics from my cheap camera do not do it justice.

I am not sure what exactly the finish is on the aluminum parts but my best guess is that it is sand or bead plasted and then electropolished.
The effect is that in the sun there are tiny facets on everything that reflect like a good metal flake paint job would. So even though it is a textured surface it is polished and glitters in the light.

It really looks cool.

Thanks.

I am slowly getting it broken in and trimmed out.
It is getting better on every flight.

Any idea how much it's gonna cost and when it's gonna be available?

Pricing has not yet been determined.
We are hoping to see the first shipments late October.
I will try to pin the boss down and get more info at IRCHA.

Holy roll rate.
I put another ½ gallon thru it tonight.
I finally got a little bit out of the hovering and slow forward flight for break-in.
This Stinger 90 is gonna rock.
I have never flown anything with the crispness of control that this heli has.
I set my helies up to be on the sensitive side, most pilots say my helies are too sensitive.
This was the first heli that I ever flew that I thought was too quick on the controls.
Even with 40% expo I still had to cut down the dual rates to 60%.
At max throw the roll rate was faster than the piro rate of most helies.

All of this and I am still running 1700 head speed.

The more I fly this beast the more I like it.

David was telling everyone at Ircha that the prive will be around $550.

Testing and development are progressing well. :D

How is the machine holding up? what problems still need addressed and any insight to price?

is the Stinger using belt drive for tail instead of torque tube? thinking about adding one to complement my raptor v1/stinger head hyper 50.

It is holding up well.
The Stinger 60/90 will have a belt drive tail.
The only thing left to do is finish up the assembly manuals.
The first production run of kits is done.
Final pricing has not yet been determined.
We are also still looking into what it will require to put this belt drive in the Raptor 60/90.

Yes, please do look into having the belt added to the raptors. I did see a link to a belt conversion last night. but it was to a european website that listed the belt upgrade as 139 Euros! i hope Gohbee conversion is no where near that price!
what about the head? I m guessing an all metal head stinger upgrade for the 60/90 will be offered as well?

Question on a picture: the close up on the rotor head, the pitch links look metal and plastic. are they adjustable or non? look non adjustable from here. Just curious. Thanks!

Actually the metal heads come stock from what Jeff told me. Gotta fly this thing more, I haven't seen it in a while.

The Stinger 60/90 will come stock with the all metal head.
There may be a conversion down the road for the Raptor 60/90.
Right now we are just concentrating on getting the Stinger 60/90 ARF kit out.

The Raptor upgrades will come later.
None of these parts have been tested for compatibility with a Raptor. They should work but we must test before we can sell it that way.

Okay .. here's the deal. I'm looking at getting a new heli (after a long time away) and stumbled across the Gohbee line. I must say they are a GREAT looking heli. I was pondering over the Kyosho Caliber 5 until I saw the price on the 60 & 90 Stinger's. I will be the only Heli pilot in my area that I know of and would like something that can be repaired rather cheaply.

Does anyone know of any known problems with the 60/90's? Also, do I need to utilize high performance digital servo's in the 60/90's? I've been in the giant scale planes for a while and knew they had to have very specific equipment due to size. I'm assuming that the heli game is quite the same.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

Great looking Heli guys.

Look at the Gohbee website and compare replacement parts cost to any other heli that you look at. Its not just great pricing on the kit, the parts are inexpensive also.
I am in Wisconsin and UPS ground is 2 days from South Carolina to here. I can crash on Wednesday and have parts in time for the weekend.

The only problem with the 90's is that they drink fuel like it was free.

You do not have to have high end digital servos, but the performance is noticeable.
Any servo that will give at least 50 oz of torque will fly the heli, but, and its a big but, the weaker servos may have difficulty once you get into 3D flying.
I have all 9252 and a 601/9251 on my Stinger 90 and they can handle any thing that I have thrown at them so far.

So to answer you question no you don't need top of technology servos.
I consider the 9252 as a mid grade servo and it works well. I did put top of the line digitals in one of my helies and it made a world of difference in the way it flies.
If your servos are not matched put the strongest one on the collective.

You might want to look into the 9451 you can get them for $70 which is close to the 9252 with much more TQ & seed. 120tq .08 speed so far I like them a lot. :glasses2:

Fflipp204,

You could ride up the road here to b'ham and check it out if you like. Oak Mountain Hobbies is carrying these heli's and parts. A buddy of mine & I are both building the 90 right now. I hope to have mine ready for this weekend. We're building his at the shop.

Let me know if you're interested & need directions.

Just to verify. The 9451's only have more speed and torque than the 9252's when they are on 6 volts. The 9451's have to be used on 6 volts to get the max performance.
On 4.8 volts the 9451 and 9252 have basically same specs.
