Hello all,

A real "newbie" here with a newbie type question.

What is the difference between "mechanically" centering a servo versus "electronically" centering" a servo?

I've seen this terminology peppered throughout many of the threads in this forum. I would assume that electronic centering refers to using your radio (Tx) to center your servos, but I'm not sure what "mechanical" centering means.

Any clarification of these two types of "centering" would be appreciated!

Thanks,

DH

Servo output shafts have an uneven number of spline teeth. That means if your servo wheel doesn't line up perfectly you can keep rotating it around until it does. That is mechanical setup.

Electronic setup is adjusting the center position by using subtrim.

The best thing is to get your linkages as close to perfect as you can and if you need to tweak them just a bit use the smallest amount of sub trim possible.

Thanks "BarracudaHockey" for the clear explanation. I kind of thought that's what it was but wasn't quite sure.

Thanks again for another very helpful response.

Sincerely,
