Right on time with this one I just received mine today. Thanks Bob. :smokin:

Why don't kasama and the other manufacturers add weights themselves to eliminate the "Tennis Racket" effect?

Because they don't know about it as much as we helifreaks do!

Email Kasama and tell them to do it... You watch though... I BET more and more because of us here on helifreak that KNOW it works... they will start doing it! Mark my words ;)

Cool I made it into a Finless video, well my heli did.

Side note- I ended up turning my gyro gain down 3 clicks on my 611, don't know if its from the Kasama grips or the mod or both. Anyways It holds like a rock!

"Just so you know" as bob will put it.;) The new MA Bandit do have it built it from the get go.:YeaBaby: Hopefully new helis with metal tail will have this feature built-in so we don't have to call it a mod anymore.

Bob or Kevin, could you give a more detailed description of what the "tennis racket" effect is and how I feel the difference with/without as you show in the video?
Thanks a mill.

Thanks guys - no reason to re-invent the wheel - I choked trough the thread - took a few cups of coffee!

I'll mod my T-500 tail once I get the Kasama grips on, but I'll do the bench test on my T450 tomorrow - sounds interesting.

Will you be doing both the Kasama tail grips and tail hub modification?

I need to "feel" the results of the bench test first, then letīs see.

I see NO REASON to replace the thrust bearings on these grips with a radial. There is no slop on the 3 units that I personally handled.

Also I gotta say I would NEVER go back to the stock tail after getting these grips balanced with the counter weights! Trust me Fireup would agree 100% after flying a stock one after crashing his flybarless with the Kasama grips!

Well Bob, my "standard" grips had a LARGE slop - about 1 1/2 - 2 mm in total. The changing to a radial bearing made it rock solid - and got 100% rid of the tail wagging. I think this is sloppy factory work!

But I'll change to Kasama as soon as the grips get here.

Agreed.... the standard stock grips are sloppy as hell! I didn't like it either! That is why I am loving the Kasama grips and hub!

Hi Bob,

Will the standard stock grips, radial & thrust bearings fit on the Kasama Hub?

Thank you

The Kasama tail system comes complete! You don't need ANYTHING from the Trex kit for this tail!

I fully realize that. It is getting rid of the slop, not the metal grips I am interested in. If this can be accomplished by putting the standard stock grips, radial & thrust bearings on the Kasama Hub that works for me. So will they fit on the Kasama Hub?

Thank you again

I do not think so as the design is different and why would you want to do that?

I think he might be trying to keep from buying the whole Kasama tail and just purchase the hub.

I do not see the metal grips being necessary to cure the slop. Replacing the thrust bearing with radial bearings does not seem like a good idea. If I could find some very thin washers I would use them. The Kasama Hub seems like the best alternative if it would work.

Thanks

The reason the stock tail has side to side slop is because of the grips and how the thrust bearing fit into the grips! You want that gone? Gotta buy the entire assembly!

Tell me if I am wrong here.

The Kasama grips have play, the way you get rid of it, is to tighten the the nut just enough that it is not too tight. Right?

Now the T500 stock grips thrust bearing has a fixed position on the hub. Therefore you cannot tighten it any more to get rid of the play. Some have replace the thrust bearing with a radial bearing. This they can tighten down on and eliminate the play (similar to the way the Kasama grips work).

The two ideas I have are:

1) use the Kasama Hub with the T500 grips & bearings if that would work

2) add a thin washer between the hub and grip radial bearing that would give it just enough lift, that you could tighten down the thrust bearing and eliminate the play, just the way the Kasama grips work

I believe #2 will work with the right washer. The other thing Bob, you & your group are always experimenting and coming up with great ideas that save us time, money and ultimately a great flying heli. So I thought you might try putting the T500 stock grips & bearings on the Kasama hub (hint, am I beating a dead horse here ;)) and see if it works.

Bottom line I do appreciate the time and effort you put into the site, as it is invaluable to me personally in learning about RC Heli!

Thank you
