What would be the recommended charge rate for charging a new 4600 mAh 6s pack on a BC6? I've been charging my 3s packs using the 1c method (1x the capacity 2200 x 1 = 2.2 amp.). But if I want to charge some new Align 4600 mAh 6s packs using this formula a charge rate of 4.6 seems like it may be to high.

no, 4.6 amps for a 4600mah pack is 1C. that's most lipo manufacturers recomendation. you can never go wrong with charging at 1C. some packs say you can charge as high as 3C, such as KP and the evo30 FP's. so even if you have an 8000mah lipo pack and charge it at 8 amps may seem high, it's still 1C.

1C, but the BC-6 on a 6S pack is limited to 2.3 amps or so since it has a 50 watt power output limitation.

Thanks guys
I just needed to make sure I wasn't going mess up a new 6s pack. With the cost of those things being as high as they are I cant afford to make to many mistakes.

Same with me - however Align recommend charging at 0.5C so with your BC6 at 2.3A you're spot on!

If you watch your screen on the BC6, even if you set it to 5A it won't put out more than 2.3A... sadly this will take best part of 2hrs to Balance a 6S 4600 from mains supply!

I'm in the market for more grunt. awaiting the new Graupner duo 50 but there's other chargers (well documented) better for 6S packs.
