CONGRATS!!! :noteworthy
One day... I will join you.
How was the build time? Good instructions/manual? How's the fuel consumption?

The machine was built and had a test flight on it when I picked it up from Bergen. Chris did a HELL of a job!
We have 4 flights on it and have run it about 10-12 min each time, That was about all the nerves could handle :D
RickO painted the canopy and its on its way, as soon as it arrives I will post more pictures.

I HEAR THAT! :D If you don't mind me asking... what is the extra charges for pre-built? Or was it a "first ones out the door" deal?

Hey Brett,
Man 'O Man, another Turbine Owner !!!! Congrats on the new bird. Wish I could make IRCHA, but don't think it's possible this year. I am sure you will have a lot of folks wanting to see your new bird fly. Have fun and stay safe !

I'll answer that one Debian,
As Brett's is the first actual production bird Besides the Shop bird, I used it for taking pics for the instruction manual. There were a few engineering changes along the way on the Shop bird, so after all that was together and we knew everything fit properly, I then began assembling Brett's, taking pics along the way.
The very first flight was done the day before Brett came to get it. Other than a slight adjustment on headspeeed, (it will fly at 1650!!) the thing was smooth right off the bench!! In track, one click of left trim, and it just sat there.

Ah... thanks Chris. What do you charge for a setup then? Or is that still an option?

Dan...If you are wanting to take a look at one...I have mine up here in Alexandria...I have about 25 flights on it now...The Wren is getting a workout with flips, rolls, loops, inverted and backwards flight...I would love to do some slow piro-flips with it but since I can't seem to do them very well even with my Bergen 90 I am not going to try them with the turbine yet! It is for sure capable of them!
What I enjoy the most about the Bergen Turbine is the fact that I am not nervous at all flying it as it flys just like my Gasser!...yesterday I forgot to click into Idle-Up as I pulled it up vertical and just as it came to a stop I pulled back to inverted and notice the head speed start to drop as I brought in negative pitch...so with out missing a beat I just pulled back and brought it back up right wondering why my head speed started to drop as I set up do auto...when I realized I hadn't clicked into Idle-up...Oops! Just aborted the auto, clicked into Idle-Up and continued flying...was surprised that I wasn't shaking in my boots after pulling such a stupid stunt! Wolfdad was with me and pretty much laughed his butt off when I confessed to it!
Bottom line is Gary and Troys hard work on the prototype out in Utah has paided off for Larry and Chris...as the Bergen Turbine is for sure going to lead the way for the new breed of lighter, more agile turbines!
Congrats Brett on picking up your machine!!! Very cool...can't wait to see it at IRCHA!!! Should be at least 4 flying Bergen Turbines there!!!
PS...Dan...if you decide on one...we live close enough for me to come down and give you a hand on the build if you want...something to think about...

Congratulatiosn!! That thing is ZINGING at 1650 swinging 810's. Cant wait to see and film you guys wringing them out at IRCHA. Rock on Bergen and Bergen Turbine!!! Gotta love it when the bar gets raised to a new level with a machine like this turbine!!

Thanks! One day... one day... I hope/plan on buying a Bergen Observer Turbine. I figure by the time the turbine version of it is tested and running I will be about ready for one (read a year/year and a half).
I have my T-Rex for around the yard. I am trying to master the basics and plan on making my Raptor 60 an AV ship once I have conquered the high hover, and feel a LOT more comfortable with flying close to things (trees, houses, the ground) The Tiger is my 3-D beater ;)
I have printed the AMA Rotary Wing - Recommended Patterns/Maneuvers for turbines (http://www.modelaircraft.org/PDF-files/510-H.pdf) and it will be my new "things to do" at the field.
I have a LOOONG way to go to be proficient at these things. But, I figure I should learn these things turbine or not.
Question what is the AMA description of a loop (not a flip). I imagine it is a big loop not going up and inverting the blades, then "flipping" back over. Right?
Edit: Greg, I was standing right next to you when you flew it in Maryland a few months back. No loops and rolls for you back then

Dan...that was my big RCrotortech Zealous II with the 950mm MAH blades...that one is made for scale applications and weighs in at about 25lbs wet in the pod and boom configuration When I get in into the 1/4 scale Long Ranger fuse I have sitting in my house it willend up being about 35lbs I guess...The Bergen uses 810 blades and weighs in around 17 or so wet...

Congrats to Brett and Greg with there turbines, I would second what Greg said about as comfortable as flying the gasser. I have found with mine that it is very comfortable to fly, you just have to get over the initial pucker and roll it over, after that you find that is as agile as the gasser with alot more power. Greg good job on the flying in the video it looked fantastic.

The Turbine and Gearbox are prebuilt, nothing extra there. I do charge an extra $1000.00 to build and test fly the whole heli, using your radio gear of course.

ah...Dan...2 right now...I am hoping to put together a Fixed Wing Turbine next spring using...yep you guessed it! a WREN MW54...might try the Super Sport version that puts out 18lbs of thrust though...thinking about something like a BVM BobCat...
Never even gave a turbine fixed wing a thought until after playing with the turbine helis...now I can't get enough of them!
Thanks Gary...will you be at IRCHA?

If there are 4 bergen turbines coming, I'd love to see a vid of all 4 of them starting up the same time. That would make some noise :noteworthy

Actually I now think there will be 5 Bergen Turbines at IRCHA!
Last year I think there were only 8 turbines altogther at IRCHA...2 RCrotortech Zealous II's, 2 RCrotortech Scale Long Rangers, Dr. Tim's Cobra, Peter's Lama, Alan Jr's Odyssey, and a homebuilt bird powered by a JetCat HP5.
I know personally of at least 10 turbine heli's that will be at IRCHA this year...that will be too cool to have so many!
