Hallo,
I am still fighting with my old tail problem on fast pitch input :arggg:
My Config:
E325 + 500TH + CC35 (Governor) + GY-401 + S9257
New KOKAM 2100 3S1P H5 (63A)
Radio DX7 + AR6100
Headspeed: 2800-3100rpm depending on flight mode
Pitch curve -10°/+10°
Problem:
On fast full pitch input the tail turns about 45° to the right!
Heli piros very good with no bounce and I have no problems at normal sport flying!
I have the same problem with the Logictec 2100T Gyro no difference to the 401!
I herd theat the servos move very fast with the DX7 Spektrum system can that be the reason because of to fast pitch change?
Is there a possibility to mix expo on pitch to make the input slower near the max. values?
Hope someone could help me with that problem!
Thanks
Martin

Bogging the motor at all? What tail blades?
If you lose HS or have smaller blades, you can lose some tail authority in high torque situations.

I have Align 325Pro and K&Bs on the tail!
I am loosing HS on fast pitch input but I thought thats what the gyro is for to hold the tail!
It dont matter which motor I am using always the same tail problem!
I have also used a EagleTree to find out whats wrong, but the 500TH does not draw more than 36A.

Make sure your servo horn is centered WITH the gyro set to rate mode.

Make sure your servo horn is centered WITH the gyro set to rate mode.
Servo horn is at 90°, tail linkage is at 90°, hoover in rate mode without any drift!

While it's difficult to say for certain, if you lose enough HS, the tail won't have the authority to overcome the torque of the main rotor. Even if the gyro commands full pitch, the tail won't be able to hold against the torque.
What tail blades are you using? What is you collective pitch setup?

if you have a powerful motor.... try to reduce your governor gain by steps of ten and see if the tail kicks more or less... and if head speed keeps accurate.
i had the same problem with my t-rex 450 and the scorpion -6 motor (very powerful)... i had to reduce the phoenix gov. gain down to 20 to NOT get a tail kick while still keeping head speed.
just my two cents..

The Align and KB blades are smaller in both chord and lenght than the standard TT blades. You do not have enough authority from the tail to counter the torque. Try the standard blades again and make sure you have set the tailservo to maximum throw. I found the same if I use the Align blades on mine fitted with the Hacker motor, went back to TT tailblades and all was well again.

I run K&B blades and they work great on my miniT. The Align bat wings did not. I think you should run fixed end points in your throttle and run it 100% all the way across. I have no tail holding problems. I run my headspeed around 3,200

Will try that out today!
Thank you all!

OK! Back from flight!
Moved the ball on the tailservo closer to the center ~ 7.5-8mm
Set the Gov. Gain to 30 (instead of 50)
AND........better but not perfect :(
The LIMIT on the 401 is close to 120 and I had to reduce the Gain down to 30 to have no tail shaking  (DX7 Gain on Gear channel)
Is that OK to fly with that less Gain?
After the flight I looked at my Tail mechanics and noticed much play on the MicroHeli Tail parts, so for further testing I will rebuild the tail!
Thanks

the "better not perfect" statement looks like lowering governor gain seems the way to go (like i had to) !!!
try to lower the gain again....more to 20 or even 15 (i think i ended up at 15 without tail kicks anymore)... make sure you run the latest STABLE (not beta) firmware from CC!
i had to reduce my gain to 30 on a futaba 12fg.
hope this helps

Thank you Marcel,
I am going over the complete setup, I think my belt was also too loose!
What firmware are you running, I have the latest not Beta firmware!
I also bought a JAZZ 40-6-18 if the tail kicking does not stop with that ESC I know thre is a other failure!

you're welcome.... i'm also running the latest non beta firmware with my scorpion -6.
Give the governor gain at 15 and 20 a try before you rebuild everything from scratch :-)
