Thanks for the comments :)

Too bad you dont live in Cali, I could use some hands on pointers from a pilot as good as you. Now you just need to get a camera man and these fly vids you post would be the talk of the town, not that they are not now, but more so with close ups :)

Live in the sticks, wife and two young children = hard to find someone to shoot videos :(.

I am going to start doing the moves a little closer in now so they show up better. I tried zooming in more, but the heli is out of frame too much. It would require me to focus more on where my head is pointed rather then flying my heli. And I am pretty sure we all know where that would lead.

Thanks for the comments :)

OH.. and as for pointers. SIM SIM SIM SIM SIM SIM SIM SIM SIM SIM.

That is the best thing you can do. Get a good sim and fly the heck out of it. But the trick is... set the models to fly realistically. I have yet to see any model released that flys like any heli I have ever flown. They always roll and flip way too fast.

The key is to actaully pay attention to what you are doing in the sim. Do just go in and fly. Say in your head... I am going to move the stick like this.... then do it and see what happens. This will allow you to see how a heli reacts to certain inputs. Repeat and Repeat. Do it till you can do it without much thought.

yeah sim was getting too boring.....but now I adjusted to my actual settings its better still boring but better and added a pinch of idle up, flips, inverted, etc..... okay NOW its more fun. I will get more practice in on the sim (Reflex) is my poison.

The sim will do you no good if you do not treat it like it is real. You need to progress your abilities in the sim just like you would on your real heli. Learn to hover tail in, both sides-in and nose-in. And by learn I mean practice it till you can do it without thinking about it. Then progress to forward flight, ciruits and figure 8s.

Focus on learning one thing at a time. What I did was learned a particular thing on the sim and then applied it to my real heli. I decided one day I wanted to get nose-in hovering down. Spent 2 nights on the sim until I had it nailed down. On the third night I hovered my first pack that night entirely nose-in. You have to take it slow on the sim just like you do with your heli.

A sim can either be a learning tool or a game. Unfortunately most poeple use it like a game. It does you no good to spend hours a the sim attempting to do things that are outside your current limitations.

I bought my first heli in July of last year. Now, I live in Ohio. So there has been no flying my helis for the last 4/5 months because it is just too darned cold. If I flew outside 10 times in the last 4/5 months I am lucky. I could do most of what you see in the video before winter set in. I spent the winter refining those skills and learning more on the sim. Granted I flew planes when I was younger, but there really isn't much of a comparision between a heli and an airplane. Spending time on a sim allowed me to progress ALOT faster.
