Hi,
I bet this has been asked over and over. I did a search and there are snippets here and there but I'm going to ask out right.

Should I run my T-Rex 500 or 450 for that matter, in Governor mode or not and why?

I went to great pains, oh ok it was easy really, adding a governor to my 600n, so why do people recommend programming the ESC with the governor mode off?

I follow the holy grail of assembly videos by Finless, and he programs the governor mode to be off. Bob if you read this, again why?.

Oh and if you link me to a thread that as in-depth discussions, thanks, I'm a google wannabe with yahoo skills.

Thanks in advance

I am going to vote no, but I run no gov and do not count blade rotations I just play with my throttle curves a little until it flys good.

Are you refering to stock esc? I run gov on cc-80.

No governor - 100% flat TC with a 12T pinion.

No Gov. DX7 Idle1 80-100 V Curve, Idle2 100% flat.

I have used gov on other helis, but not on this one. IMO, I don't think it is needed on this heli, It seems to be pretty efficient at very high rpms and boggs very little. And even if you do manage to bog it down, it seems to still maintain tail authority unlike some others I have flown.

Yes Stock ESC out of the box.

Getting lots of yes/no's but why? What is part of the reasoning, battery use, they don't work, more control with curves etc..

Does the castle creation have a better governor algorithm...

Sorry for all the question, but trying to get as much info on this to make an informed choice.

Thanks

Is it me or the main question being asked is "why"? :arggg:

+1 for that set up on mine too! it works awesome. However, I have noticed that lots of people that fly with the CC esc will fly with GOV.

YES!, I would like to why, good or bad. Do we just not run a gov because thats how everyone does it?

I want to way up the pros and cons, also why do castle creation people like the gov.

My other thread I trashed my 500 on Sunday, blew the align ESC, so I have to get a new one now anyway.

Thanks

For me, since I normally run at 100%, a governor wouldn't do anything for me. If you prefer to run at 80 or 90% and don't want to mess with curves then turn the gov on and it should keep you in that range. I also run the 85-100% V at just above half stick. So I do get a minute amount of throttle adjustment as I increase collective which counteracts the bogging. It also allows me to have a little slower headspeed in an inverted hover.

This give me the best of both worlds. If you run in GOV mode on the stock ESC you have to go no more than 80-90 on your throttle curve. The GOV needs the rest to manage itselft with. So, if you want the pop of 100%, you can't have it in GOV mode.

This is my version of "WHY". Maybe it will get the ball rolling for ya. :)
