View Full Version : BC6 NiMH charging
Can anyone explain the differerance between the NiMH 'aut' and 'man' modes beter than in the manual?
Also, what should I set the 'discharge current', and 'final voltage' values to for my Tornada 4100 4 cell RX packs
Thanks

Manual charge: You set the charge rate, ie 1.4 amps.
Auto Charge: The charger will determine the best charge rate for the battery based on the cell resistance up to the charge rate you set in the Current Limiter.
The BC-6 has only 5 watts for discharge power, set it to max, 1 amp.
Thanks for the info, can you also tell me what I should set the 'final voltage' to?

Depends on the condition of the battery, but a 4 cell pack will be over 6.2V under load.
So are you saying I should set the final voltage to around 1.55V per cell for other packs?

With nicad and nimh you do not set the # of cells or nor the voltage.
On the BC6 NiMH discharge screen, there are settings required for current, and for a final voltage (0.1v-25v), which I have just noticed can also be set to 'auto'
So do I set the final voltage to #cells*1.55v or is the auto selction the best way to go?
Thanks for you help

.8V per cell. This is the cut off where the charger will terminate the discharge.
Thanks for all your help, it's very much appreciated

Hello there, this is my first post in this forum and I'm also new with bc6, and every time I try to charge my tx battery ( DX7), I get the manual charging option, How do i set it to charge Auto
Also is the charger supposed to display when the NIMH is fully charged?
Please advise:o

When setting the charge rate in manual mode, the charge rate in amps will flash. Press the INC & DEC button at the same time. This will change it to auto mode.
When charger terminates the charge when the battery is completed, it will say FULL.

When I'm charging NiMH, the voltage seems a bit high. I charged my DX7 battery last night, and it charged at 12.3 volts. Is this correct?

Perfectly correct! Remember you are looking at the voltage under the charge rate, it is not a resting voltage.
