After what I thought was a minor crash of my new Blade 400, I heard a whining noise coming from the helipopter. I quickly hit throttle hold and disconnected the battery and checked for damages. The gears and linkages seemed OK. I reconnected the battery and the whining sound started right away. It seems to be coming from the ESC. Have I killed the ESC, or is there a remedy?

Normally the ESC makes no noise whatsoever, the beeps you hear on startup are coming from the motor, so if in fact the ESC is making a high pitched whine then I would say something is definitely out of whack.

Started right away or right away as spooling up? check to see if the sticker on the motor is coming loose.

The noise started immediately, and did not stop when I engaged throttle hold. I have since taken a closer look, and find that it's NOT the ESC after all, but one of the servos, located very close to the ESC. Apparently the servo gears are stripped, and it keeps trying to center itself. This makes much more sense, as I couldn't figure out how the ESC would ever make that kind of a noise. Live and learn, right?
Thanks to those who responded.
