Has anyone out there had to replace their main frame yet? Pretty bad crash today and the tabs for the front landing gear broke off. The frame is in good shape otherwise, but there is really no way to fix this. I was just wondering how involved it is to make this repair.......

I've replaced the main frame - twice. Unfortunately it is a major dissassembly and rebuild of most of your entire heli. However, I too thought it wasteful of both time and parts, and after my last hard-landing that effectively removed both aft landing gear mounting tabs, I purchased some very thin sheet aluminum from my LHS and fabricated a reinforced landing gear mount. Haven't had any problems breaking landing gear mounts - now I ususly snap the landing gear struts which are easy to replace.

I just completed a main frame and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. You really have to be careful to watch all of the steps involved. i.e. wire routing and misc parts that you may not have come across yet. It took me about an hour and a half to completely rebuild mine. Make sure that you have new zip ties and double sided sticky tape for remounting your gyro and esc

Where can you buy that double sided foam tape?

Most craft stores carry it. I'm in the glass business and we use it all the time setting glass so it is readily availiable to me. You might try your local glass shop if nothing else

Thanks for the replies.... I'm going to tackle the repair tomorrow nite. I found some very good double sided tape at Home Depot made by 3M. I've used it on all my heli stuff for the last couple months with great results..... I think it was in the same aisle as the paint tape....

I hot glued 1/8 x 3/8 alum. to bottom and then zip tied that to frame, drilled and screwed landing gear on with leftover feathering shaft screws. This has servived some very brutal crashes with metal landing gear that was very twisted.I did this front and back after breaking all the mounts.
