Well , I finally convinced myself to get the Predator. I will be using this forum quite a bit for help setting up this bird. Will be using a JR 9303 radio, Futaba GV-1 , Futaba GY502 gyro and matching servo. I guess my first question is how much tork will I need on the servo that controls the pitch?

Well my Predator came monday. Honestly speaking - I have seen better assembly manuals. Right now I am trying to mount my GV-1 on the engine but it doesn't appear that any of the supplied brackets will even come close to mounting the sensor where it needs to be. Am I missing something or should I make a custom bracket for the sensor?

Had a little trouble with the engine seeming to lock up solid when trying the pull start. Applied some oil into the cylinder and it eventually freed up - it wasn't vapor locked either. Took a while to free up the motor but it is smoother now, just played with it after I mounted the fan and turned it by had several dozen times.

The parts themselves on this kit really look excellent so far - even the stock woodies!

Dave:

Dont even try to use a magnet, to much PITA. Get yourself the StartorGator sensor. Few more bucks but well worth it. It attaches directly to the coil.

Good luck

Unfortunately I already bought the GV-1. Guess a custom bracket will be needed. Anyway, I have been working on the heli all week and am about half way through the instruction manual. Everything looks good so far and I am still impressed by the quality of the parts. The only part that I have broken is the phillips head driver on the wrench for the engine, just snapped off. Also I replace the three M5 flat head screws that hold the engine to the landing gear fram with stainless steel ones, originals seemed soft and prone to stripping on the heads. Ace hardware had the screws for 60 cents each.

The Stator Gator works with the GV-1 in placve of the hall effect sensor. THe Stator Gator plugs into the black kill wire, then plugs into the GV-1. Works GREAT if you can get one.

Does anybody use the stock air filter for the engine or just run without it?

If you are flying in dusty areas definitely use the air filter. MA makes a really cool looking and very light filter with carbon fiber or any of the scooter/goped/pocket bike shops on the net have them as well, although some of them are pretty heavy.
