If you have upgraded servos you may be putting too much load on the internal BEC. I had this problem with the stock ESC and I had to add an external BEC to fix it. I got a ccbec and programmed it for 5.5V, which sped the servos up a little too.

Not sure of the stats of your 'new' esc but I would tend to think it is the internal bec is not good enough to handled the higher end servos. Although, I went with SportBEC and have it set for 6V (no wires to cut either) we just used different paths but still have pretty much the same end result.

Is your ESC getting warm at all?

Hi

Ive been having exactly the same problem over the last few days....Same conclusion....internal BEC not man enough! If I fly with the canopy off im getting through a full battery but canopy on only about 1.5 - 2 mins before cutting out!. I guess my reasons are
1/ ive got a gy401 and S3154 in digi mode fitted
2/ flying indoors in the warm yesterday (nice and warm)
3/ im starting to throw the blade around quite abit now

So Horizon are swapping my ESC for a new one just to be sure and ill be fitting an external BEC aswell which with any luck should solve the problem. Since getting my Blade its been no warmer that 10-12 degrees here in the UK but im guessing in the summer ill have all sorts of cutout problems if an external BEC isnt fitted.

Your burning up that Futaba S3154 by running it in digital mode, its digital, but not the fast frame rate digital that the 401 outputs, switch back to analog.

will the Futaba S3154 be as good in analog??

it dosnt realy matter if its better or worse. its not designed to take the pounding the 401 puts out in digital mode. It could die at anytime doing what you are doing, and you dont want to see what a heli with no tail servo will do if you have it in the air hehehehe

Set it back to normal mode and live with it ;)

Yeah my blade 400 does the same but my heli is all stock. replaced the ESC and the problem is still there. The heli crashed the other day coz of the power out and it killed a lot of parts and a servo so i replaced the tail servo with a HS65 and now it seems to be ok, i can put a full pack through the blade (8min hover still learning) so i'm going to replace all servos with the HS65.
