The Futaba GY401. It can be had for $140 from your LHS or less for a used one in the For Sale forums (actually I think there is one up right now). Its a great gyro, I installed mine last night with the JR 3400g tail servo and while I haven't gotten to fly it yet, my indoor tests proved it to be ridiculously solid.
Some also use the Logictech 2100(?). Its also supposed to be a great gyro, for slightly less cash money. I went with the Futaba since that was sort of the standard.

im upgrading because i was flying the 400 and i fly it forward and shoot the nose up and thin come back down and the tail always drifts to 1 side is that the gyro?
it never holds like my freands t-rex 450

I agree,
GY401: tested, tried and true. The standard.
Logictech 2100T: the new comer, innovative and giving the above a run for the money.
There is also the matching gyro 3100G, very fast and light with moderate torque.
Hitec: also has a branded gyro/servo combo that's just the Logictec gyro with a different servo.
Maybe someone knows the Hitec model number...something like 5000G.
I am going to be putting in a Hitec HG-5000 gyro with the servo it comes with, basically the same as a Logictech 2100t. I will get it in and test it out this weekend. I know someone who uses this gyro and servo on a T-rex 500, and he says it holds really good, and he does hard 3d with it.
Hopefully the setup goes easy and I'll try to let you guys know how I like it.

Actually the stock gyro is not that bad, BUT the servos are junk, if you upgrade them and not the gyro (I did) I had probs center and limiting throws until I put the 401 in. Long story short if you dont upgrade your servos the 401 will only damage those stock servos even faster.

i was reading a report in "finless" thread about him testing the new Hitec 5000 gyro and he didn't like it at all
i'll stick with the tried and tested Futaba 401 i think when it's time for me to upgrade ;)
cheers chuck

The GY401 is 16 grams heavier than the G110.
The weight nazi is here.

...and the S9257 and S9650 are 18.5g heavier than stock.

LOL yeah the blade 400 will easily be able to handle the extra 1/2 oz of weight, it's not even going to be a factor.

I put in a honey bee fp, did you have the g90 in the pro before? thats what I currently have in the pro and its not locked, it has good and bad days...

It is for me at 8,000FASL.
Especially if I add extra weight with heavier batteries, heavier cyclic servos, maybe an external BEC...and the 35 extra grams with the heavier GY401/Tail servo combination.
That's why I'm looking closely at the Logictech combo, zero weight gain.

i have a dx6i and the AR6100 rec and the g110 wasent holding ether so i rased the gyro setting to 75.0% and that locked it but for the g90 i have no clue but i do know that the two are real close
what i did to start was set the gyro setting to 50.0%
thin i starting messing with the gain until the tail wasint bouncing
at that point the tail was creeping so i started raising the gyro setting till it was locked

Mine (original 110 on the 400) will set up perfectly on the bench, but leave it 10 mins and fire it up again and its creeping :( One or two clicks of trim or subtrim every time to stop the creep. And, if I leave it on, it will start creeping after a few minutes anyways... Sheesh..
Think I might look into the new Hitec combo..

ive seen mine do the same thang i fexed mine by rasing the gain whare it bounses o so slitly on a fresh lipo thin after like 1 or 2 min its fine
also the 110 is vary temp sensitive
i would get a good gyro but im not going to throw that kind of money in a cp pro
thats what the 400 is for lol

You could also consider the RC-Tek G730 gyro. Simplicity of the 401 with the size and weight of the L2100T. I bought one to replace the L2100T on my T450 as I was having so much trouble with it but since I got it working I have not swapped over yet.

I haven't heard much about that gyro.
I'd like to hear more.

This is the servo

The heli is sooo light anyway, don't be afraid to swap out the gyro. I use a GY401 and my drift problems went away. It holds superbly. Once fitted, you MUST REBIND THE RADIO GEAR !!!!!!!!
