View Full Version : Pitch is NEGATIVE with throttle increase....HELP please!!!

I have an Esky Belt CP that I just upgraded with the Esky HH gyro (EK2-0704A) along with Spektrum DSP75 servos and a AR6100e receiver to use with my Spektrum DX6i transmitter. I actually have two problems...

First, when I increase my throttle, my pitch is negative instead of positive (in other words, backwards from normal). I can't find where to reverse the servo deflection in the radio menus. Do I alter the entire pitch curve, or what?? My old "cheapie" radio just had switches on the front, but I can't find a simple explanation in the book for setting up the servo directions.

Secondly, I was told to plug the servo switching to the "gear" input on the receiver, but it doesn't seem to switch to HH mode. Is the "gear" switch on my radio supposed to switch between HH and rate modes, or does this function need to be "assigned" or altered in the radio somehow? I assumed that since it was on the "gear" channel, that this function would be tied to this switch on the radio, but I don't see the changes occur that I used to see on the old setup. Does anyone know how this is supposed to be set up?

This brings me to a final issue..... I used the "default" heli settings on the Model 2 slot (for heli, of course) on the radio...pitch curves, servo settings, etc. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a beginner on these settings? I am only hovering right now, with just the slightest forward, backward and side-to-side flight on the cyclic. I was wondering if I should alter the default settings to a more "docile" flight mode while I learn more hovering and forward flight techniques. I have an Eflite Blade 400 that I got with this radio and I might ask the same about the settings on it. It hovers fine from the factory, but I was told that there were settings that were better for beginners. Any help on these issues is GREATLY appreciated, and I apologize for such a long post. I'm just dying to get this thing squared away. Thanks Helifreaks...you guys RULE :noteworthy

typo....... I meant plug the GYRO switching lead to the "gear" input.... Sorry...

Moving to the E-sky Belt CP forum. There are MANY great guys that can help answer this for you!

Nobody else? OK...

Somewhere your radio will have a 'CCPM setup' menu with three values. Change the 'pitch' one (probably the last one) from positive to negative, or vice versa. The other two alter the effective cyclic throw (so you can turn these down to reduce the cyclic sensitivity, or alternatively use dual rates).

As for the gyro, all the radios I've played I think tied the gear switch to channel 5 by default. I then use the channel 5 travel adjust to set the amount of gain to use (starting at about 50% each way). Consider plugging a servo into the channel to see what's going on while you're debugging; it'll give you more feedback than the gyro.

Cool. Thanks for the input. I was afraid no one would be able to help with this. I finally found the "reversing" instructions in the book (cleverly disguised under "reversing"...hahaha!!), but the gyro thing is still a bit of a mystery. I was flipping the gear switch and nothing seems to happen with the gyro. So, since this radio now controls the "gain" on the gyro.....what do I do with the potentiometer on the gyro itself?? Set it to max, then adjust within the radio? I'm also open to any ideas on "tweaking" my settings for a beginner. Any ideas anyone?? Or perhaps you can point me to some other place.

As I understand it, with most gyros, if you use the remote gain control the on board gain pot is ignored. Maybe the esky gyro is different (in order to play well with the stock radio)?

Sticking a servo on the channel is the easiest way to see what the radio is trying to do, to see if the switch is doing anything at all. After you've confirmed the switch is working, it should be a simple matter to increase the servo endpoints until the tail wags slightly, and then turn them down a bit.

I just wish that I could afford a Dx6i, DSP75's and an AR6100e with all those inherent "problems" , but I do have an EK2-0704A :happyd

Careful, I think Unwind-Protect meant to change the pitch in the swash settings, using servo reverse alters only the pitch servo and will mess up your CCPM!

Servo's you got are Reverse to stock Esky Servo's you cannot use them or switch them around using the reverse servo functions jsut wount work

only choice you have is to do the DTS Mod (Direct to Swash Mod) and put Swap out Channels 1 and 6 and put the elevator servo on the right hand side of the bird, thats the only way ..

Nah Wolfie he's using a DX6i

Just use the servo reversers to get all three swash servos working in the same direction when you move the collective stick (with the ESC unplugged)

Then go to the swash mix and enter negative values for any function that is working the wrong way EG if Pitch is +60% and its negative when you push the stick forwards then change it to -60%:)

Yes, I finally got this sorted out!! It was okay once I figured out the settings in the radio. I went through Finless' videos and I finally got it fixed. You just can't do it with the stock radio. Whew....am I glad I upgraded!!!
