Hi guys,

I've had my Blade 400 for about 4 weeks and havn't had any real issues. Today however was different. I was fired up about trying out my new 401/3400 combo and put one Thunder Power V2 through it with no issues. After that, I put in my new Loong Max 2250 which just arrived today. It was my first flight with this battery.

I took it up half stick and everything was okay. Then I lifted off the ground to about 5-6 feet. Everything was okay for about 15-30 seconds, then all of a sudden, the power went out, like as if I had it Throttle Hold. I landed okay, and as I was walking up to it, I heard the speed control boot up again (beep beep).

I inspected it and everything seemed okay as the landing was pretty soft. Thinking it some sort of fluke, I started her up again. I took it up to about the same height again and the same exact thing happened. Except for this time, instead of falling straight down, it arched over to the right and down. It was still a soft landing and upon initial inspection the only thing I see that was damaged was one of the main blades. The speed control booted up again a couple seconds later.

Whats going on? I've never had this problem before. The only thing I can point to is the new Loong Max battery but why would that cause the problem? It was the first time I'd used the battery. Everything is stock except for the 401/3400.

Thanks ahead.

You might want to check the connections on the back of the reciever. Wiggle them a bit with the power on. I had a lose connection and I lost power in the air. I put some silicon on the connecters. That way I can still unplug servos if I have to.

Have you upgraded your cyclic servos too? even if not that digital 3400G is prob pulling a lot for the esc's internal bec to handle. I think you'll need to install an external BEC. I use SportBEC and have it set to 6V.

If you try again (I prob wouldn't without this upgrade) but if you do keep it low and when it cuts out check the temps, motor, batt, especially the esc.

I haven't upgraded the cyclic servos yet, just the gyro and tail. I was reading the huge thread at RCgroups and people did mention the BEC issue. I just want to make sure that it isn't the Loong Max battery. The first battery I ran did okay, no issues.

I also want to make sure its not the receiver. I think there is some sort of update you can get from Spektrum for the Ar6100e but I'm not sure if it would affect me or not.

yeah you could ship the rx back to them for the upgrade and be without until they ship it back to ya, but the BEC will fix that worry too....

I seriously doubt its the battery, but stranger things have happened.

Check the deans connector of that LoongMax lipo. They must have soldered it weak. Well just my 2 cents.

I don't really feel like being out a receiver for 3 weeks. I think I'm going to go with the external BEC route, I just hope my LHS has them and that its easy to install. Does it require soldering?

The battery itself looks solid, connections and all.

yes no matter what BEC you go with will have to be soldered into the esc's deans or (EC3) connector. The sportBEC is easier 'cause after you solder it's plug and play others you have to cut a wire.....no biggie really but the simpler the easier for me :)
