I am looking at cheap electric helis. I have a Blade CP and a Trex 450XL CDE (that I will finish building as soon as I find someone with Deans connectors in stock!!)

I started searching ebay for cheap helis and this caught my eye:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Walkera-Dragonfly-36-6CH-3D-AEROBATIC-HELICOPTER-NEW_W0QQitemZ5989892270

More info:

http://www.walkera.com/home_e/hm36engish.htm

I spoke with a few people about this brand and they said all Dragonfly stuff is crap. The quote is: "You get what you pay for in this hobby."

My main concern is parts availability.

Although I'm looking at this Dragonfly #36 and thinking it's CHEAPER than the Blade CP and it looks like it is much more heli for the money. I wonder what they are REALLY like. Does anyone have any real experience with these birds?

Thanks,
Chris

try www.atlantahobby.com for the connectors, they usually have them in stock.
failing that, www.hodgeshobbies.com by mail is a day or two away.

I have a Blade Cp and I have been very impressed with it. I have also had Walkera products before and although not as good quality wise as the Blade they make for a good "thro-away" heli. I have a #36 on order at this time and hope to receive it soon (Like to have something to mess with while the Blade is being repaired). I will let you know more when I get it.

ok, got the #36. First impression is it seems like an Ok machine. batterie won't fit well in slot. got it charged and headed outside. got it up to full speed and it would not lift off. tried mode 1, full rpm, full pos collective, got up about 6 inches and was twitchy as could be. i have made a few adjustments but have not had the chance to try them yet. still likeing the Blade CP better.

hi there, I ordered a #36 and got it in the other day. Since this is my 1st heli, I am waiting on my flight sim to come in and learn on it first. I have learned that RTF does not mean no adjustments necessary. My main blades do not track the same height. I guesss I have lots to do b4 this heli ever lifts off. But alas, I know not where to begin. ***sigh*** I hope to see others here who have an affinity for flying but are on a shoestring budget like myself. Paulb.
