Anyone know if there is anyone out there offering a way to stretch a Raptor 90??? Also, any reliable gas conversions? All I have found is *********.com and have found absolutely no feedback whatsoever. Input anyone?

What do you need to stretch it too? 800mm? why do you want your raptor 90 to swing more then 720mm blades?

If for AP use, it would probly be a better idea to get something that is already built to swing that blade size, and run on gas.

The thing with stretching a raptor 90 to swing 800mm blades is you will have to greatly change the gearing. raptor 90 at 690mm blades i spun at 1900-2000 rpm, for 800mm blades you will not want to spin them more then 1450rpm or so. So getting the gearing down while keeping the motor efficant will be your toughest part.

Just trying to safely have enough lifting power that I don't have to worry about my larger cameras. I guess for now I can just keep it a 90 and get into an AP bird in a few months. Any idea about a gas conversion? I still don't like the idea of putting camera gear under a nitro bird with all that exhaust. I know people use silicone tubing to get the fumes out further towards the tail, but I can't imagine that's very good for the performance of the engine and I'm still not convinced tha's far enough to keep exhaust not only off the equipment but out of the image. Thoughts?

I have R60 converted to gas - using G231 engine. I have great success with it apart from getting glitches from metal to metal contact, which now is fixed. Now I`m flying with 91/12 gearing. Engine temp. is about 260F.

I`m planing to strech it at least to R90, but I`m also thinking about swinging 800 blades...

goolfietis,
Can you give me any information on your gas conversion? I have not heard of that motor, what brand is it and what did you have to do to get it in and mounted? Any info would be greatly helpful. I am glad to hear it is working for someone.
