I'm in the market for a 12FGH which became available in Australia only this week! Problem is that it appears only Mode 1 transmitters seem to have been imported.
Is it at all possible to change the TX to Mode 2?
On page 34 on the manual it appears that it is possible to change the computer from Mode 1 to any of Mode 2, 3 or 4 but is it possible to move the spring and friction slider to the other side?

Yes, page 16 (if your manuals the same as mine) shows how to do it and you don't even need to open the radio up.

Yep, further research on the subject confirmed it.
I don't have a manual yet - do you have a pdf of page 16 that you can share?

I've just taken delivery of a T12FGH Mode 1 and need to convert it to Mode 2. Electronically it was easy but how do you do the mechanical switch? Please help...does anyone know of a diagram or pictures that show how its done?
Any help would be appreciated - .I don't want to damage a brand new TX!

I don't see how to move the throttle from the right hand gimbal to the left hand gimbal - need to remove the "spring" on one side and add it to the other. The way I can think to do it is swap the whole gimbal assembly but then the set screws for the heli/acro stick level tension don't line up in the right position - in line with the access points in the TX - very frustrating.
On page 34 it shows how to get the computer set up for Mode 2 but it says...
Quote...Stick mode - This function changes the stick mode of transmitter.
Note: This will not change the throttle ratchet, etc. Those are mechanical changes that must be done by a Futaba service center....Un-Quote.
Any thoughts/ideas?

Guess you will have to open the back of the tranny and do the mechancial changes. You will need to move the spring and ratchet mechanism I would think. On the 12Z and 14MZ this can be done without opening the back of the radio.

Now that I've had a chance to look in the back of a 12FG I can answer my own question.
A mode change on a 12FG needs to be done both on the radio - which is easy - and mechanically by opening up the back of the TX.
There are two ways....
1. Change gimbals, or
2. Change the spring and keeper plate and ratchet from one gimbal to the other - similar to the way a mode change is done on a 6EX for example. Its not hard just a little fiddly.
If you want more information I'm happy to go into more detail.
