Hi everyone as you can see by my user name I'm a new-b anyway great forum really helps out a lot. My blade is all stock and I'm in the hovering stages. My esc is getting hot! into the second battery, so hot that it looses about 1/4 of its power. I temped it at about 150 deg .Like I said I'm new to helis and electric . I'm a 1/8 scale nitro buggy driver just fuel up every 6 min. and run 30 min mains no prob. I guess it's not a good idea to run back to back batt. Anyone have this prob or do I have motor or esc issues. BTW my tail holds great right out of the box can see any point in upgrading servos or gyro at this time.Hopefully I'll be out of the hovering stages pretty soon. This is really fun now that I can actually hover and not break every 2 to 3 min lol. Sorry just rambling on. Anyone on here from the Tampa FL area would like to meet up w/ some fellow fliers and learn some things thanks for listening John

Completely stock and heating up????

you have issues for sure......check for binding anywere, also check your belt tension.

The blades should spin by hand very easily with VERY little resistance.

Thanks for the quick response did all the preflight checks and everything seems to be alright.I can give the main rotor a push and almost get full revolution. it will run one batery with no problem but into the second it will hover for about 30-45 seconds and then lose maybe a 1/4 power just like you lowered collective and esc ic hot burning to the touch with temp gun 150

I would take it back and show the hobby shop you bought it from and have them swap the whole thing out for a new one.

Went to lhs and it turns out my buddy the expert (haha) had the throttle and pitch curves messed up so the motot was not getting up to enough head speed to be in a hover therefore when you get into pos pitch the motor was bogging and causing esc overheating fi that makes any sense

Makes sense to me. I still like the 0-40-65-80-100 throttle curve the best with the stock ESC, motor and pinion.

Glad you figured it out, I was stumped! Next time this comes up I will ask what the curves are set at......do you remember what they were?

I think it was pretty linear 0-25-45-50-75 not real sure but I know it was hover at 1/2 stick and not sure of pitch curves. what do you find better about the throttle curves you use and do you also know the pitch curves and I'm assuming this in norm mode.what do use in stunt mode ? I haven't tried stunt mode yet not ready only about 10 batts in.Hi winds right now so hovering is a %$#@ but really like the challange. Start hovering about chest hi then a 10 mph gust gives you about a 10 ft lift but gettin the hang of it.

bladelearnin,

You should watch and learn all of these videos, but start with Pitch and Throttle Curves 101.

i still fly
0-25-50-75-100 in normal
and 100-95-90-95-100 stunt
i fly mostly stunt but never had a problem
i understand the elevation issues
but dont under stand the 0-25..... or so ones
but hey we all set ourf settings to our flight choices
witch make it more personal and that what makes the hobby
