Hello all,

I finally finished building my Hawk Pro and got out to test it today. I ran into a problem and being a beginner I dont know what is the cause. As I lift my heli into a hover it only goes up about a foot and wont go any higher. I have the pitch curve and throttle curve set up right and the engine seems to be running full out at 100% throttle. When I got back home I confirmed the pitch curves were right (-9 , 0 , +9) thought I am running them at -2, 0, +9 as I am learning.

:arggg: I cant even begin to figure out what is causing this so any help would be appreciated. On the bright side the hover I got was very stable.

Thanks

Paul

Could the clutch be slipping Paul?

Did you feel the clutch bell and see how hot it was after the flight? (Be careful)

Maybe, engine way too rich? Not generating enough power?

Recheck the blade grip assembly to the head. It almost sounds as if the dampners are worn out, but is likely the washers missing between the grips and the head.

Hello again

Thanks for all the advice, it gives me something to start checking out so I can figure this out. I am also going to stop at the hobby store close to home and get them to look at it as well.

Again thanks

Paul

I had this and it was the bearings in the blade grips the centrifugal force locked the bearings and the servo could not move the pitch.I must admit i still have not sorted it i have put the original blade grips on,a job for a rainy day. good luck

I had this same problem with my Sceadu when I was setting it up. More than likly you just need to fine tune your pitch settings. If you got the info out of a book its not likely that it will be tailored to your heli exactly. You should be able to hover at around half stick. If its all the engine can do to keep up with that then you need to take a bit out of the blade pitch to lighten the load. Make sure when its at half stick your getting about 4.5-5 degrees on the blades. Like Hotshot was saying, your engine mixure can be a biggy too. Try leaning it out a little bit and see if you get some better preformance, but make sure you still got a steady plume of smoke and your backplate isnt too hot to touch. Good luck

I agree with the heli motor running to rich.

I have readjusted my pitch curves with the help of my LHS and lengthened my linkages for more travel on the swash. Everything seems to be good now. Thanks for the info as setting up a fuel machine is sure more involved than my Voyage "E".
