I was going to do the check of my heli per the manual to make sure all the movements are correct. They say to unplug the wires from the motor to the ESC. The plug is not easy accessible and I do not feel comfortable pulling on the wire to unplug it. How the heck do you all safely unplug the wires from the motor to the ESC?

EDIT: As you were. I figured something out. Still, seems like they could have given a little more room to work with there. Like to be able to hold both sides of a plug when I unplug it.

I use a pair of needle nose pliers with the tips wrapped in electrical tape to reach inside the frame and hold the plugs when plugging or unplugging them. The tape keeps the jaws from tearing the insulation. Removing the battery strap will give you a better view of what you are doing.

The newer motors seem to have much longer leads.

Or you could just change your throttle curve to all zeros. do your thing and then change the throttle curve back to what it was.

OR just use throttle hold.

I had the same problem, I stick one finger in from the front and hold the plug against the frame. I always disconnect at least 2 of the wires before checking pitch etc, so I can put it in any throttle mode with fear of the motor spinning up. Using throttle hold is fine, but it has its own pitch curves.

True, so just set your hold pitch curves to match what you are using......IMHO you guys are making this more difficult than it needs to be.

This is what I basically did. Would still prefer to have the connectors in a place I can reach them.

New motors have longer leads eh? May have to see if I can see a new one at my LHS.

I was just following the manual step by step and was like, WTF? I have nimble fingers, but they ain’t that tiny. Maybe the folks that originally built it could get their fingers in there, but I sure can't LOL
